No this is the video where the lion pride (all the girls) are outnumbered by the hyena's by like 5 to one and a female lion gets seperated and surrounded and a male lion comes running in and kicks hyena ass. And I can say that without even seeing it.

According to Animal Planet the males are very very dangerous when they are mad and they get mad when Hyena's start beating up on their pride.

Well I was wrong, it is the dumb one you talked about. They shoudl get the one I talked about. :) They did show a clip of the one I talked about at the end, they should have showed the whole thing. The male ends up killings six of the hyenas before they all run away from him.

Dude I need to see that video

Hyenas will team up against female lions and make the lioness run for cover. But they will not dare mess with a fully grown male lion because it can kill them so fast.

It wouldn't even be a contest with the bear. The bear would have the lion dead in under 5 seconds.

It was discussed here before and someone posted a link to a page that said that back in the 1800s people in California betted on various animal "cock fights". The bookies set up matches between a grizzly bear and some spanish bulls, but eventually gave up on this because everyone always bet on the bear and everyone always won. The bull would charge, the bear would take one swat at it with its paw and break the bull's shoulders. The rest was easy.

So they spent even more money bringing in African lions. Same thing. One swat from a grizzly's paw and the lion was down. Most times the skull was shattered..

I read a pretty lengthy article about that and they arrived at the same conclusion. Cats are built to be lightweight and agile. Even a large cat like a lion is still built fairly lightly compared to a less limber animal like a bear. If you look at the skeletons of both animals the size of the bones reveals the mechanics behind it. Like you said, bears are meant for digging and tearing things apart with their claws. They have a very high bone density that far exceeds that of bulls and especially lions. While a lot of people would like to see a matchup like that, from what I hear they were never never interesting since a swat from the bear usually broke the bones of the other animals and they couldn't continue.

Hyenas are not dogs. They are their own order.

Yeah, this is a strange one since Hyenas look like dogs, but they are actually more closely related to cats than dogs.

If you want more footage, watch National Geographic Predators at War.

Lions vs Hyenas
Hyenas vs Wild Dogs
Hyenas vs Leopard
Cheetah vs Leopard
Leopards vs Lions
Cheetah vs Hyena

It chronicles a long drought and what Predators will do in extreme circumstances. It shows maybe the first footage of a Cheetah fending off a Hyena. Also the camera man gets within feet of feeding Hyenas and also fends off a pack of female lioness coming straight for him at night using only intimidation.

I saw an episode where two young brother lions were setting up their territory.

The hyenas were encroaching on their territory (to protect an earlier kill) and started to gather up in good numbers.

Right then, the two brother lions reacted to this gang like "Say what?!!!"

Each brother then chased after a hyena and KILLED two to make an example.

But they didn't stop there. The brothers went off chasing after more.....fatally injuring the ones that got smacked and a killing third, etc. One hyena had it's skin hanging off its side!

They literally OWNED this large hyena pack. The lion brother's manes were soaked in blood!

I've never seen lions attack like that.

Just like the video above, the male lions have NO fear and will lay the smackdown if they're within reach of their pride. Lions may be lazy by letting the females hunt and take care of the pack, but when it comes to fighting, the lions are a force to be reckoned with.

Have you ever felt the claws of a lion or bear???.....I have......... It's like touching a set of knives! Now put some serious muscle and speed behind those knives!

I fvcking hate hyenas. I'd like a better video called "pack of hyenas vs one man with an AK-47 and grenade launcher." Now that would be sweet.

Wow, the scene after 2:25 is just breathtaking. Just amazing.

Thats why the lion is and will always remain the king of the jungle. :)

The Siberian Tigers occasionally hunt and dine on Brown Bears, which is the ancestor of Grizzly Bears

Food habits of the Amur aka Siberian Tigers:

to quote the link:

"These tigers commonly catch and kill large prey in the wild. These prey species include wild boar, elk, and red deer. Some reports have even suggested that adult brown bears are occasionally killed and eaten by these tigers."

A pack of wolves can and do take out a bear. (And I'm not talking about White Fang here.) Not a full size grizzly, but a normal brown bear I'm sure.
