What's this "Cow Towing" that you speak of?

It's sorta like cow tipping. The difference being when you cow tow you have to have a CDL.

I guess that he was losing the competition between him, Sean Hannity, and Ann Coulter for most hated conservative commentator in America. That statement earned him some points, but I still think that Coulter has the lead.

If he had a vagina instead of a dick he'd probably be more hated than her. Of course if Ann Coulter was an Obese drug abusing woman she wouldn't have any audience at all.

My 2 cents, being a conservative, but I put reason well before ideology :

Rush Limbaugh : Ignorant, manipulative, disgusting human being. He makes his living by encouraging sycophantic knob-slobbing amongst people who need more than a regurgitation of talking points. Honestly an awful human being. Partisan scale from 1-10, 10.

Ann Coulter : Unspeakably horrible person. Clever but not smart, and utterly addicted to the fuel that is hate, fear, and hackery. Partisan scale from 1-10, 11.

Sean Hannity : Talks out of his ass quite often, but a big difference between him and the above two, I think he's almost always sincere about what he says. Doesn't mean he's right, but that he actually has principles that he believes from and explains from. Doesn't get caught in hypocritical stances like the above two do. I don't fully agree with all of his politics, but he's at least capable of processing an opposing view. Partisan scale from 1-10, 7.

Bill O'Reilly : Perhaps he was more one-sided in the past, but my experience listening to his radio program of late, he's actually quite moderate. He was very even-handed during the Presidential race, and was easily as hard on McCain/Palin as he was on Obama/Biden. His criticisms are usually fair, and he isn't afraid to take on (D) or (R) blockheads with equal gusto. Takes the most varied callers of any radio host I know. Admittedly, he is more of a conservative, but he seems a reasonable and intelligent man. Kudos to him for running arguably the finest charity work that any political commentator does. Partisan scale from 1-10, 3.

Glenn Beck : Boy this guy has some serious issues. Former Alcoholic/Drug Addict, converted to Mormonism, and he meanders wildly from logical arguments to tirades to childish stunts to total madness, often in the same segments between commercial breaks. He does a lot of mental gymnastics to explain unsupportable positions, and I find himself tying himself in knots frequently. Does give most callers half a chance to speak their position before railing off. Partisan scale from 1-10, 8.

Mark Levine : HA HA HA. If you ever wondered where Butterbean was during the mid-day hours, this is him. Probably a blast to hang out with once in a while, but he seems alternatively overwhiny, overangry, and utterly unreasonable to have a conversation with. Gives long pontificating speeches with zero consideration of any angle beyond the one path he wants to relate. One viewpoint and one viewpoint only on issues. Partisan scale from 1-10, 10.

There are plenty of others, but those are the ones I have personally listened to enough to comment on fairly. As a conservative, it bothers me much less to hear a liberal windbag making an ass of himself than it does to hear a so-called conservative railing on like a moron and making us all look like fools.

Well, if that's what you want to call me. I want small gov't, responsible/minimal spending, low social spending/involvement, low taxes, and a walk soft/big stick foreign policy that is as limited as possible. Not sure where that falls in with modern politicians. Reagan was the last great President, although he had a shit-stain for VP.

But, there are two things I could do with my viewpoints.

(1)- I could decide that anyone that doesn't share them is wrong. Not only that, because they are wrong and I am right, I have to scream, yell, hate, fear, etc, until I achieve my goals through pure strength of will, manipulation, or force.

or

(2)- I could realize that in such a political structure as exists in our Country, which offers a voice to a vast breadth of perspectives, that the best way to further my ideals is to find like-minded people, refine the goals, and strike balances with those who I may not agree with. At the end of the day, we're still Americans, even if we lean substantially left, right, or otherwise as individuals.

Remember, Gingrich and Clinton actually did great work together.

A few reasons why a conservative doesn't want him to succeed.

Bigger Government
Liberal Supreme Court justices
HEALTH CARE
Squelching the desire for rugged individualism.
Cow towing to the UN and appeasement to the world in general.
Creation of a nanny state where a certain growing % will need the government for everything.
Anything that promotes the gay agenda and attacks or redefines marriage (thus cheapening it)
No New Deal Packages that prolong our economic woes.

As conservatives we want for President Obama to keep America safe and stay out of our way of becoming successful, productive, hardworking, innovative Americans.

Bigger Government: Don't see this happening. Or at least not to the extent Bush increased it (which was truly epic).
Liberal Supreme Court justices: Good.
HEALTH CARE: Good.
Squelching the desire for rugged individualism: I missed where he stated this position.
Cow towing to the UN and appeasement to the world in general: Good. As a world leader we should at least pretend to care what other countries think.
Creation of a nanny state where a certain growing % will need the government for everything: I missed where he stated this position also. Even if true, it couldn't be worse than gargantuan corporations taking mountains of cash from the government.
Anything that promotes the gay agenda and attacks or redefines marriage (thus cheapening it): He'll probably be too busy promoting the "colored agenda", and redefining/cheapening marriage to include interracial couples. Oh wait...
No New Deal Packages that prolong our economic woes: Eight years of conservative policy caused the current woes. Most Americans want to try something else.

Pro-choice makes it easier for blue state liberals to have abortions, thus thinning their ranks; increased taxes on the "rich" means that blue staters with their high cost of living will have less money to spend; passing card check for unions will accelerate job losses in blue states towards right-to-work states elsewhere, etc etc.

Yes, the same way that high tax rates have made blue states the poorest populations, and unions have moved so many middle class workers into the lower class.

Craig, I'm....well I'm tearful. Finally something we agree on.

I avoid sarcasm and am rarely facetious, and the exchange here shows I'm right to do so.

If you think blue states have the poorest people, you need to do some learnin'.

The mention of Rush makes me think of sex with underage hookers in the Dominican.

People are putting to high a motive on Rush wanting Obamas agenda to fail.

Actually Rush is just a fat sloppy greasy 12 sandwich eatin' publicity whore. He knows wishing for Obamas failure gets his name in the news.

This guy is Ann Coulter without a blonde wig and 300 extra pounds. I didn't say without a dick cause I suspect Ann has one.

Rushes problem is that he has gotten too full of himself.

He can choose to take the high road or not.....sadly he has not and is taking the same road as the people who hated Bush...he is no better than they are....the way he was carrying on today i thought he was going to have a stroke.

I disagree on so many levels with Obama and his administration, BUT if they can pull it off and turn this country around and get us back on our feet again....so be it...the republicans had 8 years to try and they failed....so now it's someone elses turn behind the wheel, as long as this country does not go any further down the shitter is the important thing I don't care who does it.

Do Rachel Maddow, Oberlmann, Chris Matthews, etc

Arkaign: check out:

- Thom Hartmann, Air America

- John Rothmann, KGO Radio (online archives to sample him)

I haven't listened a lot of Maddow, but what I've heard is good. If you demand they not espouse liberal viewes, then you have the problem; if you want a good commentary, though, as you say you do, then you get it from these people, who are consistenly liberal (other than Rothmann on Israel, but he's largely fair to the Palestenians on the facts).

FYI, Rothmann used to work for the Nixon administration, but has moved to the left. He's probably the best informed commentator I've heard, a 'walking encyclopedia'.

Thom Hartmann, you can't ask for a much more rational approach; he regularly has right-wing gusests on whom he debates.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the tips, I'll check into it. I don't mind a liberal view, in point of fact I think it's rather crucial to any debate to look at the pros and cons from both spheres, so that some sense can be found. I think any rational human being would see the basic good that exists in what liberals and conservatives want to accomplish, there are just disagreements with what to focus on, and how far to go with each policy, and which things should and should not be government issues.

What I can't stand, from either the right or the left, is the I'm right, everyone else is wrong mentality, all the while not actually examining the complexities of anything.

I can not believe anyone would start a thread about what some druggie fat guy says on the radio. And who in their right mind would listen to that station.
Sheeeez... there's plenty of music stations on there too.
Or just turn off the radio and listen to your wife bitch about your driving... ;)
