Seems kinda pointless.
If you consider "could save one million tons of food from being thrown out every year." Pointless. There will probably emerge other potential applications/spin offs for this kind of technology too.

Some the mom&pop places I eat at, still put them on the tables. I think Perkin's has them still too.

Any fix for the flatulence sound the cap orifice makes when it's nearly empty?

This is the perfect reason companies may not go for it. Why would they want to buy a way for restaurants and grocers to need less of their products?

I wonder how much time and money was put into this project? It could potentially save a bit of money and waste, but I have a feeling a lot of restaurants will not adopt this new technology.

FDA approved? Just means you'll see cancer rates among ketchup consumers skyrocket in 10 years.

"The secret is in a futuristic substance known as "LiquiGlide," a non-toxic, FDA-approved coating that can be applied to the interior of bottles. "

its the 4th sentence in a tiny article...

How about those old Heinz commercials where you had time to dance while you waited for your ketchup to flow out? You would need new commercials and how much would that cost?

Which is exactly what I was referring to. WTF, are people's heads stuck in their asses today or something?

To be a little more clear: Generally these days it seems as if the "FDA stamp of approval" just means you're likely to die from it sooner or later.

really? FDA is pretty good and strigent as far as I know. Some products turn out less safe than thought, but you gotta consider the sheer volume of products they approve

No doubt Heinz will find the product not fiscally appropriate to implement and instead will shrink their ketchup bottles without lowering the price like every other fucking company to make more money just because they can.
