some say there are a few different scenes that are included in the us and not the bbc, and vice versa. I'm going to have to sit through both to tell. I will definitely be getting the BBC version of life on bluray, but I really didnt mind oprahs voice last night when watching it on tv.

With the 1st episode, as I stated here earlier, the Ibex portion was NOT in the BBC version (it may be in a later episode of the BBC, I'm not sure as of yet). The order of the rest of the sequences was all mixed up too for the most part. Narration verbiage was much different. The BBC version had more "how this was shot" at the end compared to the US version).

Looking at the episode titles, the Ibex portion could probably be shown in episode 7 "Hunters and Hunted" to be aired April 11.

Also there is a time difference, besides the mixing of sequences. :\
BBC episode 1 : 58 min 32 sec.
Discovery (US) episode 1: 42 min 48 sec.

Obviously you haven't watched either. I haven't known a single person that didn't prefer the Attenborough version of either PE or Life.

I didn't mind the Weaver version of PE. It wasn't as good as Attenborough, but it was totally acceptable in my eyes. Oprah though? Not so much.

Since this is on discovery I think they should of just used mike rowe. He has a few different styles when it comes to narrating and I think he would be better to listen to than any of the others. Attenborough is alright and yes better than oprah but honestly hes not that great.

I recall a lot more of what I perceived to be branding in the US version. The words "planet earth" seemed to be mentioned constantly. I didn't remember hearing them nearly as much with the BBC version. But that could just be my memory.

I liked how at the end of these episode, it shows how they captured the footages. I've always wondered about that with planet earth.

I thought they did that with Planet Earth too. I remember Discovery tacked them on at the end of Planet Earth ( after the commercials? ). Are the Life ones part of the episode or after the credits?

i also want to say that the whole cuttlefish thing last night was one of the most interesting things i've ever seen on TV. those fish are so strange and just overall very intriguing.

the way they can make their skin flash like a disco ball whenever they want was awesome.
