Watched the 1st episode. Simply awe inspiring. While not a AMAZINGLY picturesque as PE was the action and footage of Life is... unprecedented. The monkey using they hammer and anvil to crack open the nut literally gave me goosebumps.

Don't get me wrong, the scenery in Life is amazing too, just not the over abundance of "Look how beautiful earth and mother-nature is" wide angle shots. Life is MUCH more up-close and personal.

Oh, and the x264 is beyond flawless.

Starts tonight. I don't care who's narrating it, looks cool as hell.

Glad to hear it's more up close and personal than PE, Homerboy. I loved the wide landscapes of PE, but think this will be a nice change.

The first episode is mind blowing. Animals are incredible. Simple as that. And the cinematography... wow. I just dont get how they got 90% of the shots.

Oprah will detract though.

I don't think I could stand to watch a nature documentary narrated by someone without a british accent. It's weird, I know.

To be honest, I don't remember a single thing Weaver said in the PE series. But I remember numerous camera shots. That's what I focus on in any visual documentary. So I'm glad the cinematography is amazing...that's what I'll be watching for anyway. :)

It would be awesome if David Attenborough's brother narrated this series.

Though I would be expecting dinosaurs to come out and attack everything every 30 seconds, lol.

LOL @ all the people who won't watch this because of Oprah. Get over yourselves already.

What does this have to do with anything? Simply, I associate Oprah with certain things, none of which are nature documentaries. For this reason, having Oprah narrate a nature documentary would be distracting for me. Therefore, I would rather see a non-Oprah BBC version.

she's only one of the highest paid females in the history of this fucking planet.

Funny some refer to her as a media whore...lolz.

Looking forward to this show. She's done a lot of voice work for successful projects.

the Oprah detract thing is because it is incredibly obvious she is reading

her voice doesn't bother me, her reading does

So you're going to spend $45 to order this from the UK instead of watching it for free? Granted I'd rather watch the BBC version as well but don't you think that's a little silly?

I'll probably do both. It's something that'll be worth having on BRD. I pop the BBC version of PE in every few weeks while I'm cleaning/cooking/doing paperwork. So I'm not sure what's silly about it.

550 minutes for $45 the way you want to hear and see it is a bargain in my book.

I don't have a problem with Oprah or any other narrator.

for the record a lot of the verbiage has changed (thus far too). And Im sorry, I'm watching the broadcast now with Oprah and its annoying compared to the BBC version. Interesting the change in narration verbiage though.

In fact the opening sequence is totally different. The BBC version starting with an AMAZING segment on bottlenosed dolphins.

Agree. She sucks as a narrator. I may stop watching b/c I can't bear her anymore.

quite different. Not only the verbiage of the narration, but pieces in the BCC version aren't in the US version (thus far) and vice versa too

That's pretty frustrating to hear. I wonder what the deal with that is? Hopefully it's just in a different order and all the segments are intact.
