Rats. These won't be so easy to spank anymore🙁

😕

Translation: The old IS300 were dogs, slow as heck, no competition...

I think this needs clarification. *Stock* IS300s are slow. Given it has a 2JZ block, with mods, this car can rip your face off.

There's still alot more to it then bolting on a turbo. Its not quite the same as the GTE bottom end.

Yeah, you can drop a V8 in a Yugo and make it go fast too :roll::roll::roll:
Why are you comparing a stock car to a modded one?
Every car out there has the potential to be fast.

Yeah, I know--there's a lot of crap to deal with in terms of the OBD and fuel management (not to mention the tranny), too. I didn't say it wasn't complicated, but it can be done (there are plenty of turbo or supercharger kits for the IS300 out there), and the end result is very, very good.

Comparing modded cars to non-modded cars is kinda silly though, don't you think?

As for the new design, do I sense shades of tC? 🙂

Not really. If there was an auto-x circuit that required *stock* only, and that was the subject of this thread, then yes, my comment was silly. Otherwise, what's to stop someone from modding it?

Here's the other thing: slow compared to what? Given that the current IS300 can be had for less than 30K, and most of the other cars in this segment (330, A4 3.0, G35, etc. etc) are significantly more than that (I'd say 33-34K for the G35 sedan, 36-37K for the coupe, 35-37K for the A4, 38-40K for the 330), I'd say my IS300 + $4000 turbo kit still stays in that price range and will "spank" any of those other cars.

Fanboy much?
I priced out a IS300 to a similarly equipped G35 and they both came out to around $30.5k TMV MSRP.
The G35 was about $80 measly bucks more, and stock will "spank" your stock IS300.

Considering I drive an A4, I'd hardly say I'm a fanboy. The G35 coupe is at the top of a very short list of cars I'm considering for my next car. Given that I won't be modifying my next car, I'd say the G35 is a much better car than the IS300. However, I also feel that it's pretty unfair to call the IS300 a dog. It's a reliable, comfortable, has adequate power for daily driving, and is basically a good car for 30K.

Meh, whatever--call me a fanboy if you want. I'll defend the G35 to all the IS300 modders out there, too. Just trying to be fair.

g35 from the side, bmw 5 series from behind, meh!

i'll take the infinti please.

And better lookin' than both. Lexus interiors > Infiniti interiors. Lexus resale value > Infiniti resale value.

And with 300+ from the 3.5 liter V6 in the IS350, GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL for the IS for me😛

wow i really like how it looks.

looks a lot like a 4d version of a tC.

But still, I hated the previous IC. This one looks very impressive.

I can't wait to see the new ES. Anything would be better than the crap they have now 😀

Is the new IS going to be one of Lexus' global vehicles? Was it designed by the Lexus studios?
