How the fvck do you get 13 speakers in a car? Dedicated center channel, tweeters for the front, two front speakers, two side speakers, two rear speakers, and 4 subs?

LOL, yeah seems like lots of luxury cars do that. Just give me 4 quality speakers and a DIN sized head unit. Anything else is just weight working against the power to weight ratio. 😀

Yea I really don't understand that. I'd rather install my own speakers and setup the soundstage myself. I still don't understand why the TSX has 2 side speakers.

Oh speaking of cars - I went to the Fort Worth auto show tonight 🙂 Uploading pics as we speak 🙂

I wonder what the pricing is...
It's a lexus, so too much (as always).

Something has to give in that segment with the TL, G35, this new IS, BMW, Audi

Edit

BMW being the new 3 series, Audi being the redesigned A4

The Audi's going to get spanked.

Actually I almost think lexus is going to have more problems than audi. After looking at the pricing of the GS to the A6 I can get a 3.2q A6 well equiped for a bit less than the GS300 similarly and it is a bigger car. I've heard the quality has gone up as well. The G35 is the best priced out of the bunch I think, atleast looking at the AWD options, I'm just not a huge fan of the styling.

They count 3-way speakers as 3 speakers. So 4 3-ways + 1 sub = 13.

I wouldn't be surprised if the IS350 DOES get an SMG-style transmission option in the next model year after release, or if TRD offers a supercharged sequential-shift performance model in order to PRETEND to compete with a V8-powered M3.

How the hell is Lexus going to have problems against Audi? Audi is an also-ran in the luxury market. Even Audi's chief stated last week that they are going to focus on quality instead of quantity. Even they know that don't have the volume sales to compete with Lexus, BMW and Mercedes.

I just don't think the sales volume is going to be as high as they want it to be. The price increase has put them up right with the RL /A6/5 series/M35 with the GS300. I just personally think those cars are going to find the market easier. Lexus has done very well in the past and will continue to do so, but one of the big things helping them was that they undercut much of the competition (what the TL and g35 are doing IMO). I'm sure sales will be fine, but I don't think it is going to be as easy a sale as they had before. I'm more or less looking at the GS right now because it is one of the cars that we are looking at. I'm not sure how the new IS is going to price.

I still like lexus and think they make a good car, it just seems like they are more directly competing with the BMW, Audi, Merc... now than they were before and infinity and Acura will be undercutting them in price.

Was the last car aligned to compete with the 3-series, CL, et al? It had 4 doors, the price, and some of the performance numbers but were people really cross-shopping the IS?

On ATOT kinda late aincha? 4:30am your time? 🙂

But that's retarded if 3 ways are considered 3 speakers.

they just don't get it.

you don't get it

not everyone wants manual, and not everyone thinks power is everything. the brand name alone will generate sales

I think I just found my next car. My plans for the G35 coupe have pretty much been shelved. If this is it (we'll see on Tuesday), and it has the engine and features that have been stated on IS300.net, this car is stacked. My gf's IS300 is about to get a new baby brother 😀
