Too bad about the lack of manual option. But if the IS350 uses the 6 speed auto found in the new Lexus's and has a form of auto shifting then I may be looking at my next car.
The 250 is gonna be their volume leader. Why would they make it as powerful as the 350?Originally posted by: isekii

If the 250 was turbo charged it would've been sweet.
Turbo + 6 speed = a whole lot of fun

Maybe the IS250 will actually be an IS240 and get the same engine the Camry and tC already use. Then kids who got the base IS as a graduation present can just bolt on the TRD supercharger.

Move to Texas. Then you can see everyone driving a pickup truck with a flowmaster. God only knows if a butt cheek was stamped with Ford, Chevy, or GMC, the people THERE would be all over it.![]()

Lots of other good cars out there. I just think that people are too brand concious.

IS250: Highly probable. Introduced as the base powerplant for the JDM Toyota Crown, the new 4GR-FSE 2.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 will produce (if my math conversion & logic are correct) approximately 205 hp@6400 rpm and 190 lb.-ft. of torque@3800 rpm, with a Bore x Stroke of 83mm x 77mm and a Compression Ratio of 12:1. (Japan's Best Car magazine and England's Auto Express, however, both predict 215 hp). A post on Canadian website ISImpression.net by .NET member GTI-Gabe and brought to our attention by .NET member Platinum288 states that, on November 12, 2004, Toyota applied for a trademark on Lexus IS250. Further, the IS250 is specifically mentioned in an invitation to a Lexus event received by IS300.NET member Swisslexusclub.
http://www.is300.net/forums/showthread.php?t=212111IS350: The likelihood of this version coming to fruition is increasing by the minute. Key to this possibility is the 2GR-FE 3.5-liter V6 which will make its debut in the 3rd-generation Toyota Avalon. The 2GR-FE is basically the 4-liter V6 1GR-FE powerplant from the Toyota Tacoma/Tundra/4Runner/FJ Cruiser with the stroke reduced from 95mm to 83mm (bore remains at 94mm) and retuned for more horsepower (280 hp @ 6,200 rpm for the 3.5-liter vs 245 hp @ 5200 rpm for the 4-liter) and lower torque (260 lb/ft @ 4,700 rpm for the 3.5-liter vs 282 lb/ft @ 3800 rpm for the 4-liter). Also, the 2GR-FE features Dual VVT-i (intake & exhaust) as opposed to the 1GR-FE's intake-only VVT-i. A key question, still unanswered, is whether a Lexus application would see it adopt Direct Injection (thus becoming the 2GR-FSE) and thus produce an even higher power output, possibly in the 296-300hp vicinity. England's Auto Express is actually predicting 315 hp! Further adding credence to this model is the fact that a post on Canadian website ISImpression.net by .NET member GTI-Gabe and brought to our attention by .NET member Platinum288 states that, on November 12, 2004, Toyota applied for a trademark on Lexus IS350. The most "in-your-face" proof for the 3.5-liter V6, however, is the fact that the new Lexus Japanese website http://lexus.jp/ mentions a Lexus GS350 and NOT a Lexus GS300. No word on whether an IS350 would replace the IS300 or be a new engine option above the 3-liter V6. If predictions of a 3190 lb. curb weight for the new IS350 prove correct, we could see ¼-mile times in the 13.8 to 14.2 second range, depending on the final hp output as well.
