I currently drive an '08 C6 Z06 that I've had for the past couple of years or so.
My dad currently owns an '09 Z06, and previously owned an '08 C6 LT3.
The most common ridiculous complaint I hear is that they are terrible daily drivers, can't be driven on the interstate, etc. Someone in this thread mentioned it (not from firsthand experience, of course), and I remember the Top Gear review, where Clarkson adored the car on the track, but was reduced to a blubbering baby when driving the car on the road.
Total hogwash. The car is actually more compliant and comfortable cruising than my MX-5 (you can see in the background). That is to say, it's a firm,
sportscar ride, but it is far and away from being jarring, uncomfortable, or any of the other millions of hyperbolic adjectives thrown around by people who have never driven the car outside the dealer lot.
As a fun little story, my father purchased his Z06 in Ohio, and drove, with my 94 pound, 63 year old mother, back to AZ where he works. 1500+ miles, across gloriously dilapidated U.S. interstates and highways. They both thought it drove like a dream, very comfortable. After that, I always laugh when I hear people find it "too harsh".
The only other complaint is the "cheap interior", which is nothing fancy, but isn't particularly "cheap" either. That's something I personally don't get. It's the car equivalent of having a loving supermodel wife, but complaining about her "pointy elbows"; it's just looking for something to bitch about.
Everything is well laid out and solid, nothing impedes my driving and enjoyment of the car, although I will say that the seats are FAR too unsupportive if truly aggressive driving. I would like higher and more useful bolsters on the seats.
Still, stuff like the HUD and G-Meter IMO are fun little gimmicks that make up for having a less-than-elegant emergency brake, or an unflattering glovebox that doesn't meet Her Majesty's standards
