Lately i've been thinking very hard at getting an 06-08 C6 Vette. I was looking at possibly getting a used GT500 but the gas mileage is atrocious so thats out. Vette gets 26-28 on the highway which is why its the next best logical choice. Anyone have any experience with the LS2/LS3 Corvette's?

Going to look at this one today

I have an 07 Atomic Orange 1LT. Bought new June 20th 2007. Currently has 5,200 miles on it. Almost broken in.

just fyi, that's terribly overpriced. For that much, you can get a low-mileage 08 with the LS3 (and overall better car) from a private seller.

i'm actually in the market as well, just no motivated sellers around here.

nothing but good things to say about the c6 vette.

I had a 2007 z06 and loved every bit of it. The hatchback is extremely useful, and for a sports car the ride is very smooth. I would average about 15-18mpg mixed highway and city

IIRC, 2007 and up had the 5 year 100k warranty's... you can't buy an extended GMPP warranty if the car is out of warranty already. Not sure if that is in your plans or not...

If you have any other specific questions feel free to ask or PM me

edit:

one last thing, since you are looking at the c6 (not z06), i would consider a targa top... best of both worlds imho

From the experiences of the accountants down the hall, they hate it as a daily driver. The long body and the ultra-tight suspension makes a common road feel like going over railroad tracks.

One of them didn't think the build quality is there for a $50000+ car either. They're Vette buffs and love to take them to the track, but their recommendation was to get a 1999-2004 model. They're very similar looking to a more modern model, they have similar performance, and you'll save a good $20K on the price.

I was pricing out a 2002 convertible a few months back, but decided to pursue a Porsche Boxster instead.

the c5 does not look like the c6 and the interior is archaic in comparison not to mention the big differences in the motor (inside out, not just power)... i would stay far far away from the c5

the "rough" ride... I mean really? Maybe if you left the stock runflats I can see that argument a little bit... but getting rid of the runflats is the first thing I did (for traction and ride)

aren't all C6 coupes (non-Z) targa tops?

I had to go look that up since I never looked at c6's (I had a z06)... you are right:

Corvette Forum said:
all C6's except for the convertible, ZR1 and Z06 are removable hard tops

edit:
reading more, the z06 and zr1 have the bolts in place that are covered by the headliner (so the dealers can replace the tops if needed).

Holy crap! I just found a 2010 ZR1 for $85K with 304 miles on it! WOW! And it is REALLY close to me. I bet they would take $80K for it. Man, what a steal. I know this is not what the OP was looking for, but dang, I might be looking at something like this! I didn't know ZR1's depreciated so quickly.

if you get a base 06-08 C6 Vette, get the one with the sports package, I forget the Z## combo for it. It's more liveable than a Z06 but better than your grandpa's garage queen vette.

Z51.

It comes with wider wheels/tires, stiffer springs/sway bars, transmission/oil cooler, better brakes, and more aggressive 3.42 rear end gearing.

Worth it if you're going to track the car, but as a daily, all it will do is cause a stiffer ride and a lighter wallet.

Had already looked into a warranty direct extended warranty but do appreciate the info. I just got back from checking the one linked above and it is a very very sweet car. Drove amazing but they're pretty firm on the price so i have to keep looking. Black/Orange/White/Blue are the color's i'm looking on buying and i really want an 08+ because that's the first year of the LS3

What's your budget? If you're planning on spending $35-40k, you can find yourself a higher mileage Z06.

...or you can wait another year till the C7 comes out and the prices take a dump on the C6. <my plan

Don't really have a plan just looking right now. There's a dealer in Atlantic City who sells 2012's for 39,999 so i might have to take a road trip down. If i could get that for 0% i'd take it in a heartbeat

Adam could you share some of your experiences and opinions on your car?

The only major problem I have with the car is that the battery keeps draining down to nothing if let sit for over a month with the bettery connected. Not sure why.

Another problem is that it collects dust. Have to wipe it off before taking it out for a spin.

It could be used as a daily driver if you lived in an area that didn't get any snow. I wouldn't though.

Just passing things along. Dave (the guy that doesn't like it as a daily driver) basically says you really have to love Vettes to use one every day. There's a lot of give and take in those cars.

IMO the 1967 Corvette is one of the most beautiful cars to come out of America, it's sleek and at the same time muscular and rugged. A brilliant combination.

Edit: It may not just 1967 models, I do love all 60's ones.

When you park it. Leave it reverse. Instead of first gear.
