Conservative republican fools like this are able to run for office and get elected because liberal fool democrats opened the doors for them thru their
overzealous pig washing known as the Bob Jones University incident in the 1970's,

which in turn resulted in the creation of the religious right and opened the floodgates for their members to vote, where as before they would stay out of politics.

I don't know what is worse: the biological ignorance or the outright mysoginy that this "representative" espouses.

The GOP should have this joker removed from the ballot.

Uh, considering a one time non-rape sexual intercourse with no contraceptives has a 3% chance of pregnancy, does that mean rape INCREASES the risk of pregnancy?

Makes me sick to suggest this, the increased odds are probably due to multiple dudes in the attack. This guy is still a numb nut. Why can't we get reasonable and intelligent people in politics?

Any one that reduces the Dem majority in the Senate can not be that bad.

All politicians tell half truths and lies. You can not expect them to be taken by their word do you?

Holy crap. That may be the worst justification I've ever seen on these forums for what is clearly a misinformed and disgusting falsehood, and that is saying quite a lot.

You've basically thrown your lot in with a guy who said that if rape victims didn't want it, they wouldn't get pregnant. You are scum. Re-examine your life. Seriously.

What the fuck is wrong with you? You're sick.

I'm not serious, but Todd Akin is. Telling a rape victim they have to carry that devil-spawn full-term is what is sick. Doing it in order to pander to religious yokels is even more warped.

Most reasonable and intelligent people are smart enough to stay away from politics.

I would think the most shocking thing about what he said is an implicit endorsement of the theory of evolution. I mean how else would the female body have gain methods of "shutting the whole thing down"? :D

As a male, my heart goes out to any female who is raped against her will. As the only thing I can say is that this Misouri Senatorial candidate is way beyond contempt from both males and females on that issue.

His crackpot theory that somehow a rape victim can prevent the rapists sperm from implanting has zero scientific validity and is disgusting to boot.

I came in here annoyed w/ the guy mentioned in the OP and then I had to stop and re-read those comments a few times...holy fuck

I know some people have a dark sense of humor.......but I have a hard time typing the words even as a joke myself.

to his defense.. i think girls do get preggo when they subconsciously want to. ive seen it so many times... a girl can be with a guy for years and never gets knocked up, but then go finds a new bf and within weeks BAM she has a baby in the oven.

but to say its impossible for a "real" rape victim to get pregnant? well i think thats just dumb. the human body might have defenses, but those are not impenetrable. natures strongest trait is reproduction... even if its not with the best partner.

Another dickhead that makes up his own science to further his agenda.

Either too disreputable, or too ignorant to hold office.

Just watched CNN he apologized, claims he misspoke. Still an ass clown though.

I doubt he misspoke. I think he said exactly what he meant to say. Misspoke would imply that he accidentally put a few words in the wrong order.

He, on the other hand, described an entire idiotic concept.

I have no doubts that he received quite a few phone calls after he uttered the stupid crap, though, urging him to deny what he said.

I will say, it's refreshing to see a thread where only one idiot seems to have put on partisan blinders, and everyone else agrees this is awful. Good for everyone.

I believe your opinion is irrational regardless of the fact that I share it. Every time I think as you do the realization that the sins of the father aren't visited on the child. You are transferring your contempt for the father onto an innocent being. You also condemn the religious who by their religious faith do not make that transfer and are morally superior to us in this way. Surely a woman who can set aside the horror that happened to her for the love of an innocent is superior to what we believe. My only reservation would be to force that morality on women who don't have that moral conviction. Because a woman can be forced to become pregnant against her will means that her will must be honored if it is her call to undo what was done. My opinion.

"Serious" or not, that's not a joke, it's repugnant.

Can someone check the birth certificate for this guy? I had no idea a pile of excrement could wear a suit and talk, let alone run for office. Although considering he already had shit for brains, it would be as a Republican Congressman.

So is this a new legal defense against rape? Hey she got pregnant, so she must have really wanted it?
