fine print says you have to the the credit (if not at the sonystore), has to be a min $50 purchase within your local residence area. Guess that means can't use it for internet purchases! (at least for the first qualifing purchase).

Uhhhh no. You didn't read the legal terms properly. That deals with merchant disputes, and has nothing to do with this offer.

Nah, you'll have to wait until the card comes. They only provide you your card information right away so you can buy something from SonyStyle if you want.

So what's the deals with the Sony reward points? How many dollars do you need to spend (down the road next year say) to generate enough points to be truly worth something - and what exactly is that "something"? I can't find much on the site yet.

edit:

NM, found some info finally: http://www.sonyrewards.com

$1 spent elsewhere = 1 point = $.01 at Sony. $100 elsewhere = $1, and so on. I guess it's like an other cc of this type. If you spend a few hundred a month, then no big deal. If you spend thousands it eventually does add up nicely. There's so many others to choose from that do this though so...

Yeah that $150 is nice though!

Sony reward points are not worth it unless you're in love with Sony products - there are plenty of other cards that have better rewards (Citi Diamond Preferred & Driver's Edge, Chase Flexible Rewards, Discover Platinum, etc. Check out cardoffers.com for more info).
After you get your $150, ditch the card.

would i be able to sign up, get approved and transfer a balance over from another credit card? Then use that balance as the qualifier for the $150 credit which should get applied a few months after i paid the minimum each month. Is this possible?

Believe it says purchase. But nothing stopping you from transferring $149 balance (remember there is a fee for that) and then making a $1 purchase to get the 150.....

I did the previous Sony credit deal, got the $100 after the usual wait. Then I was on here later and saw a post that the deal was still alive AND there was nothing that limited it to one per customer. I went to the link and signed up again, different email but all other info the same. 8 weeks later a $100 credit lands on the second account. So handy, Christmas coming up and all. That first $100 bought a couple tanks of gas when it was $3/gallon. WTF, over?

As a result of the Sony rootkit install and subsequent extremely poor handling of the issue I'm always looking for a way to stick it to Sony. I'm off to sign up for the $150. If it goes through I'll try it again too. Fvck Sony.

Sweet. Got in on the $100 last time and still have the card. But I figured what the heck and just applied for this offer using a different e-mail, everything else the same and got instantly approved for another card w/ a $4000 limit.

This is what I got from reading the fine print on the sonystyle website.
You can either purchase NOW with the credit card # and activate the card right away (given that you have already been approved instantly), or you can wait until you receive the card and activate then, and then make your purchases when you physically have the card in hand. There is nothing on the minimum that you have to spend on your first purchase to get the $150 credit. Unless the paperwork that comes with the card in the mail says so, I don't think there is a minimum that you need to spend to get the $150 credit, right?
