Well, my launch 360 died on my last night. After a few searches, it sounds like starting today, launch 360s are no longer under warranty! Anyone know if that's true?

Coincidence that it died day after extended warranty? Wonder if MS NXE put in a timebomb on launch units to force you to buy a new one the day after expiration.![]()

Well, your options are to try and do something like the X-Clamp fix yourself. Submit it for repair via MS's website for $99 (cheaper than calling it in). Or, buy an Arcade to try to get a Jasper and slap your HDD on it and sell your launch 360.

You can probably get ~$80-ish for a dead 360 ... get an Arcade at Dell.com for ~$160. The end result is cheaper than spending $99 for MS to fix it.

imo, electronics weren't built to last as long as they used too....so the business can get more money by buying new ones.

My launch 360 is still working as well - guess I'm another lucky one.
I've been debating on whether or not to buy a new Elite, once I'm sure that I will get a Jasper.

I would consider you unlucky, because yours didn't die while under warranty. If you play it, it eventually will die, and then you have to replace it yourself.
While I applaud MS for doing the right thing by extending the warranty to a rather generous 3 years, it bothers me that people are now having to pay to replace consoles that failed because of a clear design flaw.

Call Microsoft. My friend's launch day 360 died a month after the warranty expired, MS had no problems with repairing it for free.

I tried but after waiting for about 30 minutes, a recording came on saying to call back during normal business hours of something like 6:00am - 7:00pm (it was 11:30 EST).
There are a few articles out there saying the extended, extended warranty is officially over as of Monday Feb 2nd.

I consider myself lucky not having to go through the time of sending it back for repair/replacement.
At this point I think if gotten more than my money's worth out of it, since it's over 3 years old and have thousands of hours of play time on it.
