 Ya, looks like AMD fixed their awful performance. Their driver team has been pulling wonders off this generation, reclaiming Dirt 3, Skyrim, Batman AC and clawing back most of the performance nV had in Crysis 2 / BF3. At the same time NV hasn't done anything to fix Anno 2070, Bulletstorm, Serious Sam 3, Alan Wake, Metro 2033, Sniper Elite, Dirt Showdown. Gotta give credit to AMD's driver team as being the leading team this year imo. They are fixing everything under the sun.

They went from this:

To this:
Average-Framerate-by-GPU-590x781.jpg

Looks like this game will run smoothly now on even budget GPUs after GW2 optimizations and latest drivers. Cross-fire scaling for 6990 doesn't seem to be working though.

These graphs dont mean anything, its auto detect settings. In actual beta tests, its proven the nvidia cards run the game better.

Also, Can you show me where amd has the lead in batman ac and skyrim?

Proven? How ridiculous are you being right now? This data was provided by the DEVELOPER OF THE GAME. I'm sure they have every reason to lie. Also: auto detect is same for both nvidia and AMD cards in terms of settings used.

I'm sure there will be some slight wiggle room with later drivers on both sides, though - so who knows which side ends up winning. Shrug.

Jesus christ

Yeah? GTX detects higher. do you even have the beta or have looked into performance? This forum is so AMD bias its hilarious, just because people cannot afford the better product.

You have been here for a very short period of time and have already made a name for yourself, and it is not a good one. Read your PMs and decide how you want to proceed, as continuing to post like this is not going to be an option.

You should look in the mirror to be honest if you want to find bias. I'm just stating the facts: the data was provided by the developer of the game and they have no reason to lie. As far as me being biased, I actually own 2 MSI lightning 680s. Also: I did pre-purchase Guild Wars 2 and was in the latest stress test. Comparing auto settings with friends, they are the same across AMD 79xx and GTX 680, although I have no idea what AMD performance was.

There you have it. Mirror. Look in it.

yeah. so tell me something. if nvidia owns the rights to the game, how in the world will amd outperform it? auto detect settings mean NOTHING.

Okay you're being ridiculous. I'm going to stop responding after this, but there's a game called Metro 2033 that is also TWIMTBP. I'm fairly certain that nvidia doesn't own guild wars 2 by the way, not sure if you misspoke.

Guess what: there are AMD evolved games that perform better on nvidia - and there are TWIMTBP games that perform better on AMD hardware. Nobody knows how the final GW2 product will perform, that is still very much in the air so i'm not sure why you're getting upset.

An AMD employee on another forum today claimed that NVIDIA had recently(during the betas) bought the rights to make GW2 TWIMTBP. Though I am still not sure if he is correct or not.

Where did people read that GW2 is a nVidia sponsored game and AMD got no access? I would like some links.

Just curious. Because the GW2 devs sure seems to work with both camps, even Intel.

Some guy at OCN posted that, although it seems very unlikely. I have not read of GW2 being TWIMTBP from any legitimate news source.

@markyd

These are from "Date: Jul 31, 2012" :

bf3_1920_1200.gif

The 7970 1ghz edition (stock) and 680 (stock) are within 0,4 fps of each other.

skyrim_1920_1200.gif

The 680 (stock) is 1.7 fps faster than a 7970 1ghz edition (stock).

What a huuuuuge differnce in performance!
In most other games, its the 7970 1ghz beating the 680 though, usually by more than 1fps, and its cheaper than a 680.

7970 1ghz ~450$
680 ~530$

You have to ask if its really worth the price differnce though.

lmfao dude, the ghz edition is just an overclocked , louder, hotter version of the 7970. you can also overclock the 670 and 680 as those are not aftermarket ones and they outperform the 7970 in those games. compare an asus, evga, gigabyte 670/680 to the 7970 ghz and we'll c where they are at. proving a point that skyrim is not better with amd as the russian guy said.

the ghz edition is just a stupid marketing tactic that amd uses to get dumb buyers to think WOW, A 7970 IS BETTER THAN THE 680 NOW!!

Hell, why doesnt nvidia release the 680 GHZ edition and then amd can release another 7970 GHZX2 edition?

So you can imagine how much faster a 680 will be. This isnt without overclocking it to ridiculous speeds, comes out of the box, ready to play and you are covered with warranty. This is at par or faster than the 7970 in skyrim and bf3. so again, tell me how skyrim is amd and amd has cut into bf3 lead.

Also, thats why every reviewer hates on amd these days. The 7970 was owned by the 670 and 680 so they released an overclocked 'ghz edition' to go against it. what a joke. does nvidia release a 680 ghz edition ? Then when the 660ti comes out they want more performance out of the 7950 so they come out (again) with an overclocked version. what a joke.
