I liked it a lot. It's been a while since a network show grabbed me like this one did. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do but hope they don't put a bunch of crap with that gangster dude.

One obvious flaw is that since the sub has Trident missles its a boomer and they don't travel with any surface fleet. They hide with pride. And they do it far from hostile shores. They would never get anywhere near Pakistan.

Also, the part about them being attacked by a cruise missle doesn't make any sense since those kinds of missles lack the ability to attack a submarine.

Oh, and they can't just pick up a phone while underwater and talk to Washington nor can they pick up US television stations.

Outside of that, completely believable🙄

Why did he even need the phone? Every time someone responded, it came through a loud speaker for all to hear.

Also, I laughed my ass off when the showed them tracking the missiles heading towards Pakistan. Those things were moving so fast over the map they had to be going about Mach 25.

Watched it last night and I'll give it one more episode to see if I can figure out where they're going with it. Some of the acting was kind of meh and the whole thing seemed sort of "off" to me. I can't really describe it (or I would have come up with something better than "off"!).

Just saw it right now. It was pretty damn good. I just dont really know how they will keep the story going farther than one season. Then again, I didnt know how they would keep Prison Break farther than one season when it started too.

Cruise missles are sent to a point in space. that point does not have to be above sea level

Oh, and they can't just pick up a phone while underwater and talk to Washington nor can they pick up US television stations.
Called raising a radio or ESM mast

Outside of that, completely believable🙄

Now I can not figure out how they got the entire crew to the boat and submerged enough to launch a missle halfway around the world(needs to have the target programmed and spun up) in the <15 minutes thay had before the Bombers were due in.

It was there to pick up the team of solders so they could had been the closest one available and were ordered to move closer to the shore.

The submarine was close enough to the top and if they was no other ships nearby how else are they going to try to sink it?

Remember they were trying to use it as a excuse to start a war.

Oh, and they can't just pick up a phone while underwater and talk to Washington nor can they pick up US television stations.

They surfaced for the phone conservation and there are other means to communicate while underwater:

I think the speaker was on so everyone could hear the conversation because of what was going on.

Also did they say what kind of missiles did strike pakistan because there are missiles that are able to reach mach 23 although if they were traveling near land like it looked who knows.

I'll ignore the stupid stuff and keep watching... 'cause apparently, only hot chicks get put onto subs, work in small island bars, and for govt contractors. It's true. It's gotta be true. It better be true when I show up for work tomorrow.

Lol, this!

"She's the hot, hot Admiral's daughter who just happens to be an officer on this rogue sub! But watch out, the obvious bad guy doesn't like her."

And . . .

"When I'm not wearing this red cocktail dress, I am solely responsible for a bleeding edge cloaking device the US Navy put on one its front line subs. I had no collaborators, so nobody understands it but me. And I can visit Admirals any time I want! Do you think I'll play a major part in the plot development here?"

But that babe on the island? I'm giving her a pass. And I'd like to give her more than that. 😛

News flash: it's a TV show, not reality. Why people insist on picking apart details of a TV show that don't match up with the details of real life technical equipment doesn't make sense to me.

I had high hopes for the show but already feel bad about the first episode.

Robert Patrick and Andre Braugher are the only two actors worth watching. The others are pretty people with no acting ability. The woman bartender didn't even speak a word and why was that navy seal guy crying....bluck.

Worse sinking feeling is the cliche bad guys on the island, you know these guys are going to be trouble. The navy seal guy should have shot them right from the get go.

It was shed loads better then Revolution though.

They crammed a lot into the first episode probably to "hook" the audience. How they're going to keep this going for a possible entire season, who knows.

Hopefully they can keep it somewhat realistic.

I liked the pilot, but I had the same concern as others. What is the show going to be about? What are they going to fill the rest of the season with? Unfortunately, it sounds like the show may really drop off. I listened to a couple people from Entertainment Weekly chat about episode 2 and it wasn't good. They both loved the pilot, but one of them was very disappointed with episode 2 and the other was downright disgusted with the awfulness and is already ready to stop watching. They basically said there is a lot of bad dialogue, poorly cast characters, and general cheesiness.

Nice lurking account. 😛

Saw a preview showing Andre Braugher.......ok, I'm in. Loved him in Homicide and pretty much everything since.

Watched the first ep. I liked it. It held my attention. There was drama. Sure, some of it felt forced and I'm not buying the red dress making military pillow talk. And I don't see a sub surfacing directly under a raft. But I cut it some slack. It's entertainment, not a Jane's documentary.

I think I've seen this movie. Twice now 🙂

Honestly, it was a really good pilot. Show is on my series record list now. If I'm honest, and I always am (honestly), it was one of the best pilots I've seen.

Agreed, but my expectations were tempered since this is on ABC. There isn't much "acting" found outside of cable TV these days. One aspect that ruins these shows are the commercial breaks. Everytime before a commercial, there just has to be a jaw-dropping moment (to make sure you come back after the break). I find that to be so cheesy and such a turn off. It must suck for the writers to have to craft a script that way. It's just so overdone these days, or I just notice it way way more.

So how would the Russians had hoped to take the sub if it was out at sea?

Some of the crew was on land. Wait for a pickup of some type.

The initial premise was that the Russians were American forces.

Yes but the sub wouldn't had picked them up as it seemed like they planned to kill all the people on land the people commented when they thought they were americans thus they wouldn't be able to steal the sub then.
