Ladies of ATOT, Miata Question...

I bought a well used Miata for daughter, it's still a couple of weeks till she can drive it legally, and I have fallen in love with it's handling, MPG & cult car status...

Will women assume that I'm of an alternate sexual orientation if I buy a second one for me as a daily driver?

Seems the guys I know all say it's a feminine car, women don't seem to have that opinion...

Update 2-10-06

Heh, just scored a green 97' from a dealer. Talked them down from 4999 to 3650...

It's a little rough, but daughter & I will have fun fixing them up

The few people I know that drive them are men.

Give more details about the one you bought for your daughter. She's a lucky girl.

92' 5 speed, silver 103K miles she just drove it to school without stalling out, she's finally getting the hang of a MT

I found a red 94' for ~$3500 with 105K on Craigslist today, am very tempted to go buy it.

I believe that women don't see that kind of attachment with cars. Men on the other hand are odd and insecure when it comes to that.

I'd say go buy one dude, that doesn't sound like a bad deal. I'd get one myself, if I had the spare dough. I'd imagine that they come close to feeling like my 82 bmw 320i(which hasn't moved under it's own power in more than a year), except with a drop top, which would be sweet.

The only thing I dislike about them is how expensive they still are to buy. An early 90s Mazda with over 100k miles shouldn't be selling for $3k+...

Top Gear loved the new MX5 (same car).
That's a show presented by 3 men. For men. About cars.

Don't be so insecure. You have a daughter...

I own a 1992 MA. Best car I've owned: a blast to drive, women love to ride in it, reliable, and efficient. Hard to ask for more.

Ignore the idiots who claim you have to be gay to drive one. They are just insecure about their sexual preference. As I said, it's a babe magnet.

I assure you, every male friend you have will assume that you have recently been castrated if they found out that you even thought about buying that car. Right now, you need to go exert your masculinity in some way ( tit bar, alcohol, abuse something) to somehow say yourself from homosexuallity.

that is kind of sad that you have a daughter (which means you have a wife and children with her) and you are worried about people thinking about your sexuality ...

Wow. Ok how about this. I just found this great leather bag to carry my stuff around in and even has a strap to carry on my shoulder for convienience, but I'm afraid people might see me with it and think I'm ghey.

Same thing right there, guy in miata, and guy with purse.

Meh, it's just an OT post, actually, what I'm finding is what GTaudiophile says, they're babe magnets.

I had a friend who was a guy who had a Miata. They are nice rides if you are terribly tiny. I had trouble because my legs are too long.

Definitely a metrosexual car though for a guy, but I concur, sweet ride and handling.

The new model is not the same car. It new from the ground up.

The last two models were 98% the same from 1989 to 2005.
