what do you think of Pala? or Viejas? even Barona?

So far i've been to Morongo and Barona. Barona was REALLY nice, very nice, clean environment, whereas Morongo needs more freakin' ventilation :frown:

Its close to In-n-out, on the same block. Stuck to the mexican place is a another hole in the wall commonly referred to as "buck fiddy" which has sub sandwiches for pretty cheap.

Best music venue: TROUBADOUR! I love that place....it's soo tiny. (Henry Fonda is great too for a midsize type venue)
Best Tacos/Burrito: A lot of people say Tito's Taco stand which I went to for the first time today and it was good. But I dont know about BEST! but dont listen to me...I'm not much of a mexican food person.
Best beach to walk around (not swim): Venice
Best shopping area: 3rd street. I love the variety of stores there, plus can't beat the street acts! :p
Best boba: I like tea station in san gabriel
Best pho: a lot of people say pho 76 (i think it's in san gabriel too) but i think every place tastes pretty much the same.

Roscoes is good but it's also over hyped up alot.

Zankou is good for that middle eastern type chicken (trivia: the original owner of Zankou killed his whole family and himself in the mid-ninties)

Pioneer is tru fried chicken...gotta luv dat bird!!!

Actually, the owner killed himself, his mother, and his sister last year. They lived in Glendale (thats where i'm from). The other day I heard Zanou is expanding and that they will be opening up 11 new locations. Currently thay have 5 or 6 (Glendale, Hollywood, Pasadena, Anaheim,Van Nuys?). I am the proud owner of a Zankou t-shirt which I purchased for 3.99 from the Glendale location :D

I still prefer The Greek Theater but the Troubadour is definitely an awesome venue.

As my friend puts it, Titos is great American Mexican food. If you want great authentic mex its this place down on Hoover just north of the 10. Ghetto neighborhood and I don't think anyone in the joint speaks english. Great food tho.

Best pho: a lot of people say pho 76 (i think it's in san gabriel too) but i think every place tastes pretty much the same.

Just stay away from the ones in the "other" valley (San Fernanado). Its nasty compared to the ones in San Gabriel/Alhambra/etc. I think pho 76 is the one on Garfield/Main in Alhambra. Pretty good but there's another one on Las Tunas in San Gabriel that's awesome. Its called the Phoenix something or other.

Pioneer Chicken was a chain until the early 90's when Popeyes chicken bought them all out...and messed up the receipe in the process.

But a handfull of individual Pioneer restaurants were not part of the buy-out , and they continued to operate under the Pioneer name. But since that they had no Pioneer corporation over looking them, they strayed from the original receipe...escept the Pioneer branch on Sunset.

That's why the Pioneer on Sunste is OG while the rest be biters.
