The "indefinite" suspension is only to give them more time to try and find a way to get him out of the league.

EDIT: oops, my bad, they switched it up from the early report to life time ban. Good on Silver.

Good for the NBA. It's their league, they can do what they want.
This will be an interesting saga. I can't wait to see how this soap opera pans out.

Last reporter before they cut in was sexy.

It's kind of confusing with Sterling and Silver, I feel like I'm about to mix them up whenever I type.

Silver doesn't have that contemptible smug tone that Stern developed. I hope he stays that way.

Board of governors can force a sale with 3/4ths of the vote.

I think he will sell the team, but I don't think it will because of a governor's vote. I can't see 3/4 of the owners forcing a sale. They might though because remember those owners have to deal with their star players. So they may sacrifice Sterling to keep the peace.

Wonder what they are going to try and do next.

Right now he is still making money from the team, even if he is suspended, and if they tried to make him sell the team, he'd end up owning half the NBA from the lawsuit he would win.

How do you pressure a guy that could burn $5 million dollar stacks a day for years without it hardly making a tiny dent in his fortune?

Silver has thrown down the gauntlet to other nba owners, "I fully expect to get the support I need from the other nba owners to remove him."

Sterling's gone. There's not an nba owner out there that could afford to veto his removal and risk the vote becoming public. The potential backlash could seal their fate in the league as well.

Sorry, Silver, but it's a shame Donald Stern isn't the commissioner right now. He has far more eloquency and charisma when addressing the media in tough situations. I'd give Adam Silver an "A" for how he's handled this situation, but a "C" for his communication abilities during the press conference. His answers are a bit short and dry and certainly not the brilliant communicator Stern was.

It's official, we now live in Soviet Russia.

It's called business. The NBA is a group of business people. If one of them is a jackass who is tarnishing their brand and business they should have the power to get rid of the jackass. He NBAs response is not only proper bit necessary to protect their business interests.

They can force him to sell and he probably wouldn't have recourse because it was in the NBA by-laws when he bought the team.

Now if there somehow is collusion regarding the price, so that he doesn't get a fair value of the sale, that would be different, but the sale itself would be valid. I would think, not a lawyer, and not currently a professional sports team owner.
