That's just pathetic.

Thanks. :)

Okay this must be the poor reading skills coming into play again, so let me elaborate a little. I said I remembered it "more vividly." I didn't say it was more important, or more meaningful or made me feel more sad or whatever. I just meant in terms of the "flashbulb memories" I have I remember hearing that KC died clearer than what happened on 9/11, probably because I saw 9/11 unfold, and no one really knew what the hell was going on. 9/11 is really more of a blur to me, because it was so long. Hell I remember the OJ verdict "more vividly" than 9/11, and I don't give a crap about OJ. That's all I meant; probably a bad comparison there on my part. But then again my whole post was misinterpreted, no worries though, I'll try to do better next year. :)

Well I suppose you can't control your emotions. Your heart ain't yours to control, no matter how tight the rein! I also see what you're saying. I clearly remember when the gulf war began. When I found out about 9/11 it was from a thread in AT because all my news sites that morning were dead and the news came in slow so it was kind of blurry.

<< So, in your opinion, the only "good" musicians are those that use heroin. A musician can't be good of his own right. He has to have the drugs to be any good? >>

That's a given...no need to discuss it any further.

BTW...I happen to have some of that Hendrix Vomit which, for a reasonable price, I'm willing to part with. I also have some of Jim Morrison's vomit and quite possibly this turd I've been saving for some 30 odd years could be one of Janis's last .

Thing with Hendrix is he was an excellent guitarist. Unfortunately his voice was awful and much of his music was actually bad too. Just because you can play the guitar like a mother doesn't mean you can make good music.

<< you know....it's sad that many of these threads turn out to be a flame fest. :( >>

Yeah, and I really tried to avoid it too... I made it a point to avoid putting him on a pedestal, and I didn't cut anyone else down, nor was I really over-complimentary towards him. Basically I just said I wanted to remember him... I appreciated what he did. He wasn't perfect, he didn't changed the world, he wasn't a role model, or a hero (I disagree about him not being a good guitar player though), but hey, whatever. This is an Internet forum, I knew what I was getting into.

btw how many of you were on-line in 1994? I was, and I remember that night, back then everybody was a lot nicer (not to mention more interesting/informed)... too bad the masses had to go and ruin a good thing. :)

Heh, how's that for flame bait? See I'm catching on...

From dictionary.com:

<< trag·ic Pronunciation Key (trjk)
adj.
Relating to or characteristic of dramatic tragedy or tragedies: tragic plays; the tragic hero.
Writing or performing in tragedy: a tragic poet.
Having the elements of tragedy; involving death, grief, or destruction: a tragic accident.
>>

<< His death was no loss because while living, he was a useless heroin addict. >>

And the other artists mentioned above (Hendrix, Richards, etc)? Also useless addicts?

Wow Amish. You really are a worthless piece of sh!t you know that?

I don't care if you like the guys music.

So you are disgarding the talent of all these bands just becuase you don't personally like their music? What made you the be all and end all judge of what's good music?

You think that AC/DC and the others on your list have never dabbled in any drugs? Get real sh!thead.

You don't like the guy fine. You knew what the thread was about, don't come in. Obviously people here respect him.

You don't fine, deal with it, move on. You don't have to come in here and have a little party about someone's death. And you high fiving each other when you heard about his death. What's wrong with you? Happiness at another human beings death. Even if he wasn't worth much what about the wife and kid he left behind? That little girl that has to grow up without a father, and you are celebrating this death.

I can see not being particularly saddened by it. There are people that deserve the pity more. But "best day ever"?

You make me sick to my stomach.

<< Tragic death? Tragic: bringing great harm, suffering. The man killled himself!!! That's hardly a tragic death. More like a weakling who couldn't deal with reality. >>

Yeah and OJ didnt kill Ron and Nicole...

There is way to much wrong with the crime scene, for it to have been ruled a suicide, the police didnt even bother investigating, they ruled it suicide, without ruling out homicide(they are supposed to rule out homicide before declaring it a suicide). Im not a fan of Nirvana or Kurt, but there is way to much evidence leaning towards homicide than their is suicide.

Nirvana changed music as we listen to it today. That is accepted across the board by anyone who knows a damn in the music world.

Buy some Pepto.

I never said I hated him because of the drugs. I just don't believe that the drugs make the band. If anybody in my list does drugs they are a junkie. That no bearing on whether or not I like or dislike their music

Music today sucks, at least the majority I've heard on the radio.

There is your problem, stop listening to the damn radio.

Listen to stuff you like listening too, not the garbage the sh!tty entertainment industry tries shoving down everyones throats.

His problem is that he thinks he's an expert at music when he's really just letting his opinion get in the way, much like you did.

While music is subjective, there are ways to gauge it on a technical side. Unless any of you are prepared to argue that side of it, and know what you're talking about, you're all just wasting your time. :)

I bet if some musician came in this forum and started spouting off about how Intel is better than AMD and the information is completely subjective and not based on any kind of fact, you guys would rip him to shreds. Why is it that when it comes to music and movies, everyone and their mother is an expert?

"Anyone who says anything bad about nirvana or kurt is either someone who was hurt by his
suicide or an idiot who listens to meaningless crap like the backdoor boys or that bastard slim enema or
whatever his stupid jackass name is"

See, this is just an incredibly boorish statement. You are immediately assuming that because someone didn't follow the no shave/no shower/no hygiene path in High school... or public school for most of the "affected" masses, that they listen to N'Sync or Eminem?? What then do you say to the person that listens to all genres, just for the sake of enjoying music (no not me, I hate alternative)?? Do you point your grubby, Limp Bizkit-listeing, Fubu wearing, skate board toting (pick a bloody group and stick with it ass), juvenile "badass" in training finger and say "oooh, he/she's not cool, cuz they dissed Kurt Cobain. I love Kurt Cobain, even though I was like 7 when he died...

(yes Corp, there is mass amounts of hypocricy and such, but please bear with me...:)

I'm not even bloody old (23), but all the kids that come onto to these boards, jakking about how they're 1337 and such, reminds of these "individuals" who didn't follow "mainstream" music, yet could tell you everything about Nirvana, down to what colour underwear Courtney wore on any given day (probably none, but I'm not looking).

Bah.,.. i give up..

See, this is why I am now done with this arguement. I never, ever, said anything of the sort.

Curt Kobain himself wasn't any shining example of a human being, and I don't see how anyone can say otherwise. What he (and his band) accomplished though, was to move music forward through that horrid 80's glut we had. About a month ago (I think) was the anniversary of when Nirvana stole the top spot in music from Michael Jackson.

If that isn't worth celebrating, I don't know what is.

KURT COBAIN DID NOT COMMIT SUICIDE. HE WAS MURDERED BY COURTNEY LOVE!!!!!!!! EVIL GUTTER WHORE SET HIM UP.

If you read his "suicide letter" it basically describes the breakup of Nirvana. Only at the end does it even mention suicide, and that has been confirmed not to be Kurt's handwriting.

No fingerprints on shotgun. DUHHHH, how does one blast his head off leaving no fingerprints?

Countless other facts. :|
