great bloody christ... I'm with Amish on this one.. the guys dead.. who really cares... Does anyone hold memorials for the above mentioned (and also self-deceased) Hutchence?? No.. why?? cuz nobody bloody well cares.. Putting some heroin junkie onto a pedestal for all to worship is just bloody inane. Oohhh Kurt Cobain's anniversary of his brain;s first and flight is today... Ooohh.. he revolutionized the way we break our instruments... oohh... INXS stopped a concert when he killed himself.. Ooohh.. I really could go on... but then I'd just amke myself even more po'd.. people that are shedding tears are like traffic accident gawkers....

OK, so Amish hates Nirvana with a passion, and their like. I agree. Now, what would you guys feel like if that stupid alcoholic Backstreet Boy drank himself stupid and killed himself one day?

Would you be sad, or not reallt caring, knowing that a person who was a offical tardball has cleansed himself of the genepool? ;)

Those who feel that speaking of the dead in anyway makes damn bit of difference, need to get a life.

They are fuking DEAD!!

In general, that's a pretty ignorant statement.

I can understand if you thought he was a loser or worthless or whatever -- you're certainly entitled to your opinion.
What I don't understand is how you've come to think that reflection and discussion is a bad thing. Obviously, for whatever reason, this guy was important to a lot of people and that itself legitimizes any discussion of his death.

No, not so ironic... I personally hate flamefests, as there's nothing to be accomplished from them. I felt compelled to post because of the vastly misplaced sentimentality displayed for a junkie. Is the father who euthanises his handicapped daughter because he "couldn't bear to deal with her pain" to be vilified or worshipped for taking life?? Same circumstances no, same senitments expressed by the involved parties, yes.

It just irks me that a generation that identifies itself by it's apathy (read laziness), finds reason to open up emotionally over someone who "eptomized" what the believe in.

Hmmm pretty speech, too bad you must have skipped what I quoted.. I guess you didn't get it. Pity.
On that note, just because someone finds comfort in that, doesn't mean that's wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own idols, and he happens to be that way to many young kids struggling in life. Hendrix was an amazing player, he revoluntized guitar players today.. died as a result of a drug overdose. He was a junkie too, yet people still look up to him today. I did as a guitar player. Joe Walsh, drugs, Keith Richards, drugs, those they are not dead, they were junkies too. I fail to see your point.

<< remember the day too...

I was at work. When my friend and I heard the announcement on the radio we were listening to, we both looked at each other for a second and then high-fived each other.

It was April 8, 2002...around 7:15 PM. I was surfing AT while heating up some frech fries for my kid. I was reading a thread regarding the anniversary of the death of Kurt Cobain when it suddenly hit me...Electric Amish is a heartless b@st@rd.

How can someone relish in the tragic death of another simply because they don't like his music?

*sigh*... no I read exactly what you quoted, and understand that you find it ironic that I was so vehement in my post to a topic i shouldn't care... correct Freud?? Of course everyone's entitled to their own opinion, such as what I offered to the thred, as you have, and anyone else who replies to any topic, but only if it doesn't infringe on someone else's belief right?? What's the point in debating then, if no one can question the original intent of the message? You might sit neutral on the subject, whereas I defintely know what side of the fence I sit on.

I was actually commenting on the fact he used the phrase 'christ' and people getting emotional about dead people.. Thought it was kinda funny/ironic/hypocritical. :)

I found irony in the question "who bloody cares" when he is in a thread made for those of us "who bloody care". Kurt Cobain doesn't mean much to me, I admit. But Nirvana was a great band and their music revolutionized (for good or bad) the popular culture. I don't see that as a retrofit, but as an acknowledgment of the way it really happened.
