1st Putin has to swat some of you off his nuts and now North Korea is attempted to get swarmed.

The US is not that bad.

In fact, most of the people whining probably have it OK to damn near perfect. I mean, is the lack of conflict, strife and oppression THAT detrimental feeling good about living where you live??

I'll tell you what I think. It would be a simple matter for us to pool money from people in the forums to fly him to beijing. The one way fare would be $652 from LAX and as he'll have to sell just about all his possessions he can afford the two hour flight to Pyongyang.

I'd chip in if we could get 20 people to do so.

He'll gladly accept the opportunity.

He should have kept his mouth shut, but I guess he is a reasonably honest guy. It sucks that this puts the rest of his story in question, because I am sure much of it is true. The guy went through horrible stuff, anybody else read the 2012 PP for fiction? I read it but don't recall the title.

Huge PR coup for Jong Un. North Korea never ceases to impress me with its ability to troll.

Edit: 2013, The Orphan Master's Son. It's about North Korea. Decent book.

I'm in for a share if we can guarantee that he doesn't bitch out.

He was even in the camp he said he was in, just not for the whole period of time. Really a non-issue unless you are Dcal430 and looking for a reason to blow fatty Kim the third.

Wonder if that satellite pic of North Korea being pitch black at night while South Korea is lit up like a Christmas tree is a lie also...

...Might have something to do with the punitive western sanctions causing fuel and energy shortages across the country.
No fuel = no electricity.

Yes, blame the west. Because China can't sell (or even give) their client state all the resources that they want. If any state deserves sanctions, it's North Korea.

Free tip: Stop some of the worst human rights atrocities on the planet, and constant threats to your neighbors and the world of nuclear attack and blowing up the planet, while pursuing, building and testing nuclear weapons, and maybe you won't face such sanctions.

Look at this grief. No leader was loved more than Kim Jong Il. No evil dictator would command such love.

You're confusing tears of joy with grief.

NK is equivalent to another province of China with respect to economic needs.
If China wants to support them they would provide the power, energy, food etc that NK needs.

But as long as NK wants to be an asshole to the world; the world is not going to provide additional support. And China is not going to tick off the world by increasing support levels.

Actions have consequences.

I think Fern (in post #17) hit it right on the head-there are distortions and omissions in the book, but as of now we don't know how much of it is factually true. Too bad-I read that book and was very moved by it.

I think there are still some basic facts that are beyond being controverted-NK has an immense prison camp system, NK has a three generation punishment system-ie if you commit a crime against the state (very loosely interpreted as well as to what is such a crime) you get punished, your parents get punished and your children get punished. So two generations of innocents are imprisoned, forced labor, starvation diet, the works-all for a crime they didn't commit and further, no one contends they committed.

I don't think there is any other country in the world with such a barbaric "justice" system. In fact I may be slandering the barbarians by calling this barbaric.
