well the price is around the same, but they sell different types of cloths. Marshalls and TJMaxx is a huge mess from people digging through all the clothes looking for what fits them... their prices are bargain basement even though they sell good name stuff. But their prices are the absolute best out there - can't beat them. What I saw from Kohl's was different... very neatly organized store with clothing that's not better in price or quality... and that's why I question why they're even around. That's why I say they're overpriced in comparison... you can already get the good stuff at the other stores. Seems to me they're just taking advantage of people who don't know about Marshalls / TJMaxx.

The Kohl's over in Levittown runs some really good deals. I get sent 30% off coupons that you can use on Sale Items, and then on top of that they sometimes run a special where using a Kohl's card, you can get $10 for every $50 spent.

As long as you know when to buy (like when the above happens), you can score some killer deals.

They had longer lines to check out (pretty much every register where I was at was being used) than the Frys and Best Buy we went to around 8 am this morning...

IMO, Kohls and Mervyns are about the same level...

SO they take a $20 pair of slacks, put a $80 price tag, put it on sale for >50% off, people buy these pants for $30 and think they scored.

It's not a new business model, but Kohls is very good at it, which is why they are/were well liked on Wall St.

I suppose, but I picked up a leapster LMAX for $55 there the day before xmas on one of their 50% off sales. I dare you to find one for anywhere close to that price ANYWHERE at a retail store. Hell, even ebay can't match that price. Point being, they do have some good deals if you know when to shop. Leapster is a quality product that is well made.

While that may be true and i agree it is an old practice, these slacks were of excellent quality and the retail price seemed appropriate.

Like all stores, there is crap and there are gems. But I've found more gems at kohls than anywhere else.

And the funny thing is all my friends feel the same way - "kohls rocks", and before there is any class or status crap floating around we're all pretty well to do.

You must have a really crappy Kohls. We shop there all the time. They always have stuff on good sales. We buy mostly kitcheny stuff and clothing there.

I rank Kohls above Target which is above Walmart...

Their end of season bargain racks rock.

I picked up cargo shorts for $10.00 a pair when even the cheapest places out there typically sell them for $16.00 at the least.

I can grab sweaters for $4-$10 a pop. Nice sweaters that go great in a business casual office.

Long sleeve button up shirts go for $5-$10 when they would typically go for $15-$20.

My Dockers "golf pants" can be picked up for under $30 a pair when most places sell them for $35+.

It's just all in what you are looking for. If you want to be a name brand whore...they aren't the best place. If you just want some nice looking stuff that fits well, and don't want to spend a lot, they have great deals if you hit them at the right times.

One opened near me a couple of years ago, and I've been there several times since, but not recently at all, nor do I intend to return.

Imho, they simply have no edge anywhere. Completely uninspired merchandise selection, almost never the best prices, mediocre service -- there is simply no reason to go to one that I can see. And yet, they do seem to be thriving. I have no idea why.

Kohls always has good deals on Levis. I pd 22.50 for 501s and 17.50 for 550s a few weeks ago w/ 30% coupon. I also got a dyson 07 yellow OTD $227 last year.

Shirts are a little boring though.

I got some $40 shoes at kohl's once and they were complete junk, my $20 shoes from walmart lasted a lot longer than those things did

I don't think they carry Armani :/ that's a little riduclous. Most of Kohl's stuff is priced in the $10-$30 article range at all times throughout the year, regardless of what the 'sale' price is. The inflated MSRP bullsh!t is a little annoying too.

I don't find Dockers, St John's and Haggar particularily impressive. The fits are cut for larger people, I need to get my clothes in 'modern fit' etc., which Kohl's offers none of. Dillards/Nordstroms are my typical targets for my shopping...

Kohl's isn't one of my favorite stores by far because they do have a lot of low quality stuff and the service isn't great, but if you take the time to browse through all the merchandise you can find some good deals. They'll also have some good sales for off season merchandise like the ones I'm waiting on for next month and February for bedding.

I've found some really nice deals on down comforters and linens in late winter sales. I also picked up some nice Eastland hiking shoes there in winter and got a couple of good wallets at a buy one get one free sale.

Last time I was in Kohls, I got black Levis jeans for myself for ~$12 ea. (They are normally ~35+ at all other stores and are really hard to find - Black Levis Carpentar style). They were on clearance. I wanted only 1 but bought an extra spare one (b/c these particular ones are really hard to find and the price was too good)

Again

Dockers is standard office wear (and my favorite brand), and I don't think that 32x34 would be "larger".
