Kohl's has got to be the most worthless store ever

Every year, my grandmother gets me two shirts from Kohl's, and every year, I return them. It's just not my style and thats OK because I always get store credit that I use to buy only semi-worthless stuff (instead of keeping the completely worthless shirts). Last year I think I bought shot glasses and some other barware.

This year I walk into the store and just...ugh. This store is so worthless. They stock five times as many SKUs as they need to. And it's all junk. Who buys this sh!t?? The clothes are wretched. I went to look at luggage....it's all ballistic nylon.

This store just seems like a far crappier version of a SuperTarget, minus the foods. It took me half an hour to find something to spend my $30 on, and it ended up being a wok and a griddle. I mean really, does anyone shop at this store and can they provide any insight as to why this store is better than something like Target, which seems to sell the same kind of merchandise, only better designed...

You're missing the point. I'm not saying they sell crap, I'm saying they sell overpriced crap that can be had at other retailers for cheaper or better quality.

I made the mistake of going into a Kohl's once. Overpriced stuff for a crappy store.

I can understand if they're trying to be a Marshall's or TJ Maxx with discount clothing... but what they're doing is just highway robbery.

Overpriced? uh...I find exactly the opposite is true, and I assume Fobot does too, since we are both poor.

I buy a lot of clothing at Kohls. They have good sale prices. And usually just about everything is on sale at some point during the month.

Agree. I don't buy a lot of things there, but my mom and gf do. They both are familiar with prices at other retailers, and find many things priced competitively at Kohls. I wouldn't say they have the highest qulity items on the market, but I def. wouldn't say it was "crap". Just my $.02.

You're not alone in your thinking. I first heard of Kohl couple years ago. It was a Wall Street darling because the company was rapidly expanding and opening new stores. So when Kohl finally opened near my house, I took the free $15 grand opening gift coupon and went to see what the big deal was. I toured the place and found it underwhelming to say the least. It reminded me of upscale Upton store which was horrible and is now out of business. I ended up buying a frying pan because I couldn't find anything in the store that interested me.

After that experience I wanted to short Kohl stock since I thought it was about the most worthless store but I haven't because I was taught never short a company in the midst of expansion. To this day I don't see why and how they stay in business but I guess people must shop there.

Give me Target and Costco anyday of the week.

kohl's.... every time i have ever been in a kohl's store, it has been the same.

crap merchandise, snotty staff, invisible managers and only one or two open checkouts with huge long lines.

stopped shopping there after the fourth time... about 6 yrs ago.

if you pay the MSRP, but they usually have 30-50% off just about everyweek, if the stuff you wanna buy isn't on sale, just wait a week or so for the "sale."

just got back from my local kohls....it looked like a thrashed thrift store....there were clothes all over the floor....shelves were in dishevelment....boxes everywhere that were half open vacuums and things and sometimes just stock brown boxes. Then there was a like 20 person long line with only 1 register girl. i saw other girls walking around the store that had "Asst mgr" and "mgr" on their tags but didnt look like they were helping anyone. It looked pretty bad, and funny thing was i saw one of our local news personalities walking around there jsut now...i hope she does a report on how bad it is :D

I usually go there for blue jeans, dress shirts/ties and pots/pans/kitchen utensils since they always have them at VERY competitve prices when it comes to the "poor set". I really like kohls any other time of the year. But today was bad, worse than walmart bad.

well the price is around the same, but they sell different types of cloths. Marshalls and TJ Maxx usually sells name brand stuff like polo, hilfiger, echo and other stuff that didnt sell too well and might be last season's or so. Kohls sell lower end stuff but i think they're better than Target or walmart
