tharpertx,

for the credit, is it the listed price or purchase price - the lowest price?
b/c i got mine from gateway w/ 50 off so i'm wondering if i can use 525 - lowest price or 475 - lowest price.
tia.

Not sure I follow. Even if I did, I am unsure how coupons weigh in, but they gave me the after discount price minus listed price at Beach Cameras. If you call and ask, let me know!

thanks.

it looks like the amazon flop is grabbing all the attention of this forum.
it's interesting to see how it turns out.
it'll be more interesting if one day we find dc4800 to be listed as $59.90, hehe...

Could someone please post the Gateway coupon or where I can find it. Sounds like a good deal and I'd really like to pick up this camera. Thanks alot.

Coupon can be found at Link Just click on the link at the top that says "coupons" and scroll down till you see it.

<<orangel, what amazon flop is that?>>

It's a dead deal now, thanks to some self-appointed guardians of the American way, who called in to check if the price was correct.

I'm actually having a problem with my gateway order because I didn't have an alternate shipping address listed on my credit card. This has never been an issue before.

Went to Staples with the 40 off coupon and the Latest Sam's catalog which had the cam for 479.00. With taxes the camera came to 466.38 add the rebate and the final cost to me will be 366.38

Has anyone thought of or tried this?

Go to the link below to get the lowest price on the DC 4800. They currently list the price as $367 after $100 rebate; however, when you add the camera to your shopping cart, the price is $367 plus shipping.

Discovercameras.com

Does this mean that you can pay $367 plus shipping and still get the $100 rebate on top of that? I didn't think that they could subtract the $100 manufacturers rebate at the time of purchase. I tried adding this to my cart and the total including $16.90 shipping to California is $383.90. However, if there was a way to get the $100 rebate on top of that, it would bring down the total to $283.90.

Or, an even better idea would be to use this as a price match at Staples and use the $40 coupon. The total would be around $244 after rebate.

Is this too good to be true? Please don't flame me if it's not. I haven't tried it yet because it seemed too good to be true.

mears, i just got my gateway order today and my order had different billing/shipping addresses and i don't have any alternate addresses listed on my card either. charging the cameras battery right now and i'll be testing it out later tonight. also i think this was mentioned by someone else who got their camera recently, but in the reviews of this camera some complained for lack of lens cap attachment, but with my camera, there is a cord included for the lens cap.

about that discovery camera thing, it clearly states that price is after the rebate, so i'm assuming they might bill you the 460 price and judging by their ratings on resellerratings (all negative comments) i wouldn't purchase anything from them.

scheck, Do you think Staples would price match this? What if I were to make a print out of my bottom line price of $383.90 and take it to Staples to get the price match and then use the $40 coupon on top of that? Just a thought. I guess it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

i'm not sure whether or not you could pull it off, but i guess it won't hurt to try. but they might suspect something is fishy with such an extreme low price and maybe look up the site on the web and then see the text where it says price after rebate.

shakashan,

they'll probably call up to do a price and inventory check. you may get lucky and the phone answerer gives the low price, tho .... not likely...

Thanks for all the advice. Rather than trying to order on the phone with Staples, I think my best chance will be going to go into the store and bring a copy of the print out with me.

Does anyone have the $40 coupon they could email me? My email addess is:here

If not, I can use a $30 off $150 that Staples sent in the mail to me. I'll let you know what happens.

I just got mine from gateway. There is dead pixel on the lcd screen. 🙁
Can they replace the camera because of it?

i guess the discovercamera thing is completely misleading.
it clearly states it's after $100 rebate, yet when you add it to the cart, it still shows $367.
i just wonder how much they are actually going to charge you if you submit the order.

if anyone trys out, let us know.
