Got mine on Monday & I've already taken about 70 pix. This thing is an awesome introduction to digital photography for me. As far as the battery life, I got over 60 pictures (about 25% with flash) on my last charge & it still shows the battery status as "good" so it seems results vary. Anyone whose found the ideal camera bag for one of these babies please LMK because I purchased a Lowepro 30 with the camera and it seems a bit snug for my needs.

For what it's worth, i was checking out www.rebateshq.com, and they have the Kodak rebate listed but they have other options to the $100 rebate (Obviously only choose one). One of them is for a battery/charger and 32mb CF flash card. Seems like a pretty good deal since the charger is around $70-80 and 32mb are typically $50+. The other two options are software that few people would probably use all of them.

I don't know how to put a link to it, I just went to rebateshq and listed all kodak rebates.

I tried to go through the photoalley deal and they where charging me tax and out of stock. I went to Office Depot and used the %20 off floating around and got it for $510 ($599 - 20% + tax, but free shipping). Not as good as some of the deals but it's suppose to delivered tom. and they have 30 day satisfaction guarantee so if I have a problem I can bring it back.

Get one at SEARS B&M for $475 plus tax, minus $100 rebate = $375 plus tax! I've already received mine from PhotoAlley so I am set, but came up with this after being in Sears this morning buying some tools. Sears had several of the Kodak DC4800s in stock at $599. But they will price match with ANY actual B&M store. I asked what was required for the pricematch and was told I could simply print info off the web. Lowest B&M store I could find was Harmony Computers that had the Kodak for $475. They have a nice web page with Retail store info that you can just print out to show your Sears salesman. Going this route also gives you the safety of some one down the street for warranty or other problems.Harmony ComputersAbe's of Maine is similar but at $489.99Abe's

Here is a warm deal on the Kodak 4800..

I had placed an order with PhotoAlley, but they are out of stock right now, so I was looking around and found a referal link for 20% off at Office Depot.

I looked around and found the Kodak for $599. With the 20% off, it came out to around $480 ($600 - $120) and free next day shipping. I'm in California, so I had to pay tax for both Photoalley and Office Depot, but I saved an extra $20 on the cost of the camera and I'll get it next day, since it's in stock. Final cost charged to my credit card was $516, and the model at OfficeDepot is valid for the $100 Kodak rebate.

I opted to pick it up at the store since no one will be home to receive it. I'll pick it up tomorrow on my way to work, for a grand total of $416 after all is said and done.

I have been looking for this camera. The Office Depot Offer sound good but give me a little insight as to where I can find a 20% off. I can't find anything anywhere.....

They pulled the 20% off coupon very quickly, so correct me if I am wrong but that is a Non-Deal and not working.

I ordered from Photoalley, as the website said "In Stock" and the CSR I called said "In Stock" Guess what, BACKORDERED. So I canceled and ordered from Harmony Computers. I ordered my DC215 ME from them two years ago, and was pleased.

I called their 800 number and verified that they were in stock, they said yes, $475.00 and $19.99 shipping. Not the absolute best deal but I have had good luck with this company in the past. We shall see...

Really? Every link, including the one OD sent to me came up as Expired. Don't know why, but if you can get it to work a DC4800 should be about $480.00 plus Tax, Free Shipping. Came to $508.00 if I were to order from them, about ten bucks more than I paid but Next Day service. From my experience, when OD says next day, you get it next day.

I've been waiting for Staples to get into this. Now we can go for the throat. All decent pricmatches will be received with gratitude. I saw on another thread a person post a code for $70 off anything over $270.00. It's probably locked by now, but if it works I'll find a way to share it with you all.

since the begining of the rebate, staples has only carried the camera at Brick & Mortar stores, not online.

Awesome... I picked up my camera on my way home from work, and set it up to charge the battery before I left for class. Came home and it was all charged and ready to go..

When I walked in the store, I just showed them a printout of the online order, and they grabbed the camera from lockup. I signed the invoice, and walked out in 5 mins. This is probably the best and easiest deal now that the photoalley promotion is over.

The website shows the correct UPC code for the rebate, and the box that I got has a valid UPC for the rebate, so I'm all set.. :)

Hawkeye,

A good site to pricematch with is CameraSound.com
They have it for $468, and shipping is $20(shows when you try to checkout) if i am not wrong. Tax only in PA.
If you manage to PM staples and use a $40 off coupon, and then send in for the $100 rebate, this could be the best price we've seen for this camera!

I bought the Kodak 4800 from my local Sears store today for $462.00. How you ask. I looked for the lowest price on the internet and also a site that has a B&M store. Beach Camera fit the bill and today their price was $462. So I made a printout of the screen and also a little bit about their store. Then I took it to my Sears Store. The clerk called to verify the avaibility and price. This is all it took. So I got it for $462 then my mail-in-rebate of $100 will bring it to a total of $362. The only thing added was my state sales tax but this way I could get it today and Sears has a good return policy if I have any problems or at least I have someone to help without calling someone that I have not delt with before. ;) :D

or don't like it i can just take it back.

I would not accuse PhotoAlley or anyone else of selling grey market products unless you were sure of that fact. I do not personally know about Abes's, but they have been around for a long time and seem legit. I DO know about PhotoAlley as I currently have three Kodak DC4800s sitting in front of me and they are the real thing. I have bought other cameras from them and they are ALL the full retail, non-grey market, new, perfect, anything else you want a product to be, cameras. Please be careful with accusations, don't bad mouth without facts to back it up.

Good score at Sears Reddog1. when I did the search a day ago, I looked at Beach Camera but their price was $499 so I did not include them as a place to PM with Sears, but their web page has a really nice RETAIL location map etc. to show to the folks at Sears or Staples if they start offering this camera.
