"Knowing" with Nick Cage

I know there's another thread about this movie, but I felt this needed to be posted:

DO NOT PAY GOOD MONEY TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

I am not usually a movie critic, but this...this was ridiculous. I love Nick Cage, don't get me wrong. I like a LOT of his movies, but this - this movie is basically "Transformers" ending with "Rainbow Bright". This is one of the few movies where I felt I've wanted my money back. It's a bait & switch movie. They bait and bait and bait you until the last 20 minutes, then it all falls apart.

I don't know if this should be a spoiler thread or not...but...please...do not go pay money to see this movie. It has you going the whole movie, it has you so sucked in, you're wondering what's going to happen, you're on the edge of your seat...then they absolutely, positively destroy it.

Uwe Boll would be happy.

oh Kaido...I predicted teh suckage when I first saw the commercial on TV.

Nicolas Cage = teh fail

Thanks anyways 😛

No one in that thread has actually seen it yet. I'm posting this as a warning: they were right :Q

It starts out feeling like a bit of a summer throw-away flick, but within 20 minutes they have you totally sucked in. You're jumping out of your seat. You're wondering what's going to happen next. You're freaking out when all this crazy stuff happens. Then...they ruin it. The last 20 minutes of the movie are un-freaking-believable. Everything before that, fantastic. The last 20 minutes...let's just say it's about 100x worse than the Indiana Jones 4 ending.

Man 😛

I dont know...Ebert gave it 4 starts, thats as good as it gets with his ratings.

I usually agree with his ratings.

""Knowing" is among the best science-fiction films I've seen -- frightening, suspenseful, intelligent and, when it needs to be, rather awesome. In its very different way, it is comparable to the great "Dark City," by the same director, Alex Proyas." - Ebert

The movie is great, just not the last 20 minutes. It had so much POTENTIAL! Arggg...I would see it again if they re-filmed the last 20 minutes with a real story. The rest was SO GOOD! 🙁

NO NO NO
NO NO
NO

I can turn this into a spoiler thread if you'd like...the ending is mind-blowing, but not in a good way 🙁

People said that about "Next" (his see-the-future movie) but I enjoyed it. The hill scene looked amazing in 1080p on blu-ray.

Next was fun, it wasn't great, but it was fun. Now imagine if "Next" had ended with him going back to the cabin thing at the end with the girl, and the Jonas Brothers walked in the door.

That about sums up how Knowing ended.

I do not see movies with Nicholas Cage in them.

this rule of thumb has not let me down yet.

This takes the cake, even over Wicker Man. Wicker Man was terrible, but this was more of a let down because the whole movie was good until the end, then it ends enormously stupid.

I liked Gone in 60 Seconds, National Treasure, Matchstick Men, The Family Man, City of Angels, etc. He made some good movies 🙂

Nick Cage, an actor I really like, hasn't been in a truly good movie for quite some time, unless I'm forgetting one (or two.)

Even though Cage and I share a birthdate, I think Im gonna wait for it on DVD.

The ending to this movie is bad enough not to rent, ever.

Seriously.

If you mean ever then you've missed some good ones like Raising Arizona, and some dumb fun ones like Con Air and Face/Off.

Thanks for taking us back 12 years... 😉

Times have changed a bit, and the rule certainly applies to new Cage movies imo, until proven otherwise.

I want to know where the hell they gett off thinking they can use the first tone of the Emergency Management System in their commercial

They seriously need to die in a fryer

Pretty good special effects...but

*Super Massive Spoiler below*

Was that movie really about the biblical end of the world via gigantic solar flare with the rapture being carried out by aliens?

the good thing about this disaster movie is that it doesn't involve solving the problem with nukes

of course maybe that is why everyone dies...
