I'm not the one thoughtlessly crushing people's knees

If you do not fit into the seat, pay for more space. Not my problem, I did not make the seat that size or with that much/little space. Take it up with the airline and don't insult/call people name and act like bad ass on the internet. Can't pay more? Drive, walk, craw, or hitchhike/etc.

I had the worst flight back from Toronto last year... guy in front of me leans his seat back as soon as we take off, except my knees were in his way of a full recline. he then proceeds to spend the rest of the flight repeatedly banging his chair against my knees trying to recline it.

I don't really even see the point of reclining them back. it's not like they recline enough to make it easier to sleep or anything.

I do fit . . . as long as you keep your seat back where it belongs

if you think I'm going to pay extra so YOU can have the luxury of reclining in coach, yeah, I don't think so

You want to recline, pay for business class

The airlines make the seats to be reclined, it will be recline. Nothing you can do to change it except bitch and whine and act like a bad ass wannabee. As I say in my previous post, try to kick my seat a few times (as you said in your previous post) and you will see what happen. I seriously doubt you would dare to do it again. Just saying.

Again, the seat has a button to recline, it will be use. N-O-T-H-I-N-G you can do to stop it except bitch and whine. Nothing, nada, zip, zero.

Take It On The Airline If You Do Not Like The Seats To Be Recline. Don't take it on the person in front of you. Geezzee. Very simple to understand.

I think the article in the OP demonstrated that seat defender is in fact very effective

Talking to the airline will accomplish nothing, talking to the person in front of you will usually help as MOST people aren't self-centered jerks. Very simple to understand.

You could have mentioned it to the guy nicely. I bet he would have stopped.

For me, that little bit of recline means a world of difference in the amount of pain I'll experience during the flight, but I have back problems...

Effective only on the ignorants and clueless. Not going to work with people who travel a lot like me.

Again, you can try your "kicking repeatedly" to the seat in front of you, it might work with others. Not with me and people like me. Ever. Just saying.

Good luck, you are going to need it, lot of it. Truly. What do I know, I am just a manlet as you said...LOL.

I want to know what you would do! Do tell!

Well, I "could" call that person name(s) or kick his/her seat repeatedly as tynopik, couldn't I? <wink..wink>

attempted to, but he didn't seem to speak English and I don't speak Chinese... even the guy he was with was looking at him like "wtf?" though with his repeated attempts to recline his seats.

And prohibited by UA and most airlines.

Using your cell phone during taxing was prohibited but people still did it

having people in coach use the first class bathroom is prohibited but people still do it

Unless it causes a disturbance (like having someone throw a cup of water), they're not going to do anything

Well, most folks are going to complain and if when you're asked by the stewardess to remove it, they'll remove it for you. Try stopping them. Good luck!

And you can be arrested for using the first class bathroom if you're not in first class

Walk, Do Not Run, to the Bathroom!

Posted April 12, 2009 by Carl Unger

A Delta passenger spent two nights in jail after he grabbed the arm of a flight attendant while rushing to use the restroom. Apparently the aisle was blocked, and when the passenger asked if he could use the business-class restroom, he was denied. He then pulled the flight attendant's arm as he tried to get into business class. The FBI greeted him upon landed and put him in jail for two nights.

The moral of the story? Be patient. More interesting, though, is that the passenger was denied use of the business-class restroom. The Wall Street Journal's Scott McCartney did some digging, and found that TSA regulations restrict passengers to the restrooms in their seating class. So the flight attendant who prevented the passenger from using the business-class bathroom was simply following the rules.

So the next time you have to use the restroom on a plane, don't run, and certainly don't push, pull or otherwise move the flight attendant out of your way. And maybe if you ask nicely a sympathetic flight attendant will let you use the forward cabin's bathroom. Maybe.

haha, no

No, he was arrested for grabbing the flight attendant.

Want the current state of first class bathroom usage?

But I want to discuss the fact that there's now a great deal of folks in Y [Coach] who flat-out refuse to adhere to the flight attendant's requests that the front lav is for first class only and proceed to march past drawn curtains and loiter in the F cabin (I've seen this on several occasions flying domestic US first). It doesn't surprise me that there have been FA's who have given up trying to enforce this request

When I've sat up in F [First class], it's driven me nuts to see the constant parade of Y [Coach] pax headed to the front lav.

Damn straight! It drives me crazy to have people walking up and down the aisle from Y [Coach] to use the F lav. I often take an aisle seat, and it seems like half of them use my seat as a handrail or bump into me, which isn't exactly easy to sleep through when you're in a cabin which you expect to relax!

The pair were seated in the first-class cabin, and DeWitt needed to use the restroom. Yet passengers from coach kept walking up to use the first-class restroom -- and DeWitt grew more uncomfortable by the minute as she waited for an opportunity to use the toilet.

Patton said when DeWitt asked a flight attendant if she would make an announcement stating that passengers were only to use the restrooms in their assigned cabins, the flight attendant said she would not.

I generally don't recline my seat, more out of courtesy toward the person behind me than any other reason. That being said, being 6' tall, with most of my height in my legs, I have had my knees smashed more times than I can count, by some inconsiderate a-hole in front of me, who suddenly decides not just to recline their seat (which I normally have no problem with), but to do so violently. SLAM! Um, excuse me? Those were my KNEES!! 😡

But these two people were complete idiots, being as they were both sitting in the extra leg room seats. Geez, how much more room do they want or need? If you need more than the extra legroom (which, at least, on American is about 3-4 inches more), go buy a business or 1st class seat! 🙄

I bet you're about 5' 6" and a goofball. ROFL at your internet badassery.

Fat fuck too poor to buy the amount of space he needs? You should be banned for the airline on second attempting with the bullshit device.

I'm 6ft 180 and have yet to have an issue with people abruptly ramming into me, even with a laptop on the little tray.

When I fly on company time...yeah guess what they're not paying for anything above coach. At 6'4", my knees are already touching the seat in front of me before the inconsiderate idiot in front of me puts their seat back. Having said that, yes the airlines do allow it, so I do expect it, and just deal with it. I do not recline my seat, because I'm not a selfish idiot. While both people in this case are certainly idiots, the guy with the knee defender is clearly at fault. As long as the airline allows it, you need to shut your mouth and deal with it, or pony up and buy a better seat.

can I be the first person to say that I don't really mind if they recline as long as I can continue on with what I'm doing? I've used my laptops before when the person in front reclined their seat without issue.

Fascinating, so how would you defeat it?

I have my ways to deal with "big tough guys" like you.

kick the seat of the person behind you? that would be quite a trick

Ever hear of sarcastic?

Bolded = my answers.

I call your bet. Look up the Dallas ATOT meet thread and send a few PM to the folks that met me in person. Ask them if I was a little shorty skinny guy or not. PWNED!!!!!! 😀 How much did you bet?

Badassery? Really? Where did I say anything about badass such as "kicking repeatedly" or "manlet" like other poster? Get your story straight.
