Remember when flight was magical and exciting because it was a technological breakthrough for humans to be able to fly around in a metal tube? Yeah probably not.

:thumbsup: I used to love flying. Now I just dread it.

Between TSA screenings, the endless waiting around, layovers, delays, crowded seats it just sucks ass. Anything I can do to make it as painless as possible and I'm doing it. If this includes reclining my seat a couple inches so be it.

I'm surprised airlines allow something like the knee defender, and repeated kicking would result in a fight in most cases. Hope you don't mind bothering women, children, or the elderly too.

Buy business class if you are too tall and can't handle reclined seats.

I don't care if the person in front of me reclines. I expect it actually. It only moves back a couple inches at most and I usually recline my seat too so what's the big deal? We all have to fly in the same shitty conditions so why not do whatever you can to make it more comfortable for everyone? Is that couple inches of air between your face and the seatback in front of you being used for anything more important?

I don't know how large you are or what kind of reclining the airline seats you use have, but its like 2 inches tops from what i've seen. The difference is just enough to not have your head fall foward when relaxed.

The last flight I took was for my grandfather's funeral. On the way there, there were no economy plus seats, so I got stuck in coach. I am a tall man, 6'5" and it is all legs. As such my legs were crossed and tucked/folded behind my seat as much as possible and my knees were still jammed against the seat in front of me. I had bruises from the turbulence and the seat in front bucking against my knees. There was 0% chance that the seat would recline and thankfully it was never tested. Had it been, I would have showed the situation to the guy and explained how much pain I was already in. Hopefully he would be human enough to be aware that a little discomfort for him would save me a boat ton of pain for me.

On the way back, I got economy plus and those 4 extra inches meant everything. No issues, no complaints. If I ever fly again, I will gladly pay that to ensure my comfort.

The device should not be use. As long as the seat is allowed to recline, then the customer on that seat is correct. I am about 5'10" with 32 long pants, average size/weight, and I did fly a lot (in and out of US) and I never have any problem with reclined seat in front of my seat of all airlines and no device was used on my seat (that I know of because I was able to recline my seat without problem).

I do like the idea of ALL seats (in economy) with no recline so no device, no fight (for now).

Another thing, airlines are making plans to squeeze even more seats in the same planes by thinner seats. Yike.
