does a reclining seat in economy really piss people off that much? i fly all the damn time and I don't care if someone reclines in front of me. i'm 5'8 170 lbs.

what pisses me off more is when I'm excited to get an emergency exit row seat, only to have a 300lb linebacker sitting next to me that took over my arm rest and 1/3 of my seat too. i'm all for making bigger people purchasing two seats or first class.

I don't think this device should be allowed. does the tray table have to be open for this device to work? it could be a hazard if there's an emergency and people need to get out of their seats.

I fly a decent amount and can't say I've ever heard of this device. I'm curious how the woman was able to identify that even being used. My initial instinct would be to assume the chair is just fucking broken like most things in air travel.

I can't say I've ever been inconvenienced by someone reclining their chair personally.

I am about 5'10" with 32 long pants, average size/weight, and I did fly a lot (in and out of US) and I never have any problem with reclined seat in front of my seat of all airlines

That's because you're a manlet

I don't care if someone reclines in front of me; it's never bothered me in the slightest. I don't personally recline my seat, because I'm not a genocidal, child rapist sociopath and I have compassion for other human beings, but if other people want to be the lowest scum of the Earth, that's their right as barely-sentient creatures. I don't get what all the fuss is about.

Of all the issues with flying I find the person in front of me reclining generally falls towards the bottom.

The lady should have seen what happens when you refuse a FA's instructions instead of throwing the water

Could maybe be the airlines at fault for being money-grubbing cheap bastards cramming more seats on a plane than is reasonable for passenger comfort?

Yeah - not like passengers have shown a strong tendency to book a flight based on price instead of considerations like personal space.

Here's how it went down. She tried to recline her seat, it wouldn't go back, she called the stewardess over, the stewardess figured it out and asked the guy to remove it, the guy says "no, I need to work on my laptop" or something, confrontation escalates, girl throws water at the guy.

Another thing, airlines are making plans to squeeze even more seats in the same planes by thinner seats. Yike.

Don't know what the fuck weight has to do with it, my knees are already brushing against the back of the seat when I first sit, you attempt to lean and you get knees in the back regardless of me attempting to do so.

the bottom part of the seat backs barely move, they basically move on a hinge and the top portion is the part that really moves. idk what you goon bastards are whining about. buy a more expensive seat

Fuck reclining seats. When someone in front of you reclines the top of the seat goes right into your face. Your only recourse is to recline your own seat, and the last seats in the plane don't recline, so unless there's an empty row somewhere, some poor sap is sitting there upright with a seat in his face.

Agreed. Coach seats should not recline!

Knees are above the hinge or at hinge level, so if seat moves down = squished knees

Even if it moves 1 inch, that's pretty critical if your knees are already hitting the back of the seat in front of you w/ it being in the upright position.

Manlet's just don't get it.

Yep, also the freaking entertainment system is built into the headrest in front of you so when they recline, you have Sally Field right up in your face making you cross-eyed. I had a headache by the time my movie was over; was way too close and I could barely see it because of the shitty angle.

Sounds like you should book a seat in an exit row or business class.

Sucks, but it's true.

Meh, not worth the extra $600 for a 4 hour flight. I'd rather just bitch about it here and use that money on something delicious.
