Too lazy to Google, but I wonder who "OEM's" their booze?
I wish I lived in a state where Costco could sell booze![]()
Oh, so much this.![]()
I haven't seen the 20 yr yet, but Macallan did their 18 last year. I seem to remember that priced closer to $100 than $50 though.
Costco/Kirkland branded wine, beer, liquor are quite good because they're sourced either from well-known brands or local brewers. For example, I know around here in the Bay Area, a lot of the Kirkland beer is brewed by Gordon Biersch, because I did a brewery tour about two years ago at the San Jose GB and they had huge pallets of Kirkland beer just sitting there waiting to be loaded onto a delivery truck. My wife and I pick up bottles of the Kirkland Pinot Noir and Chateauneuf-du-Pape, which both seem to be great values, by the caseload for everyday drinking and parties. The Kirkland liquors are also great. I think a few years ago there was a rumor going around that the Kirkland vodka 1.5L bottle was going for $29.99 and was pretty much the same as Grey Goose.
The 8-year bourbon isn't super amazing... but it is super-high proof.![]()
The kirkland small batch bourbon is made by Jim Beam, I think it's delicious.
It took two attempts, but Washington voters finally approved it last year. Unsurprisingly, Costco (headquartered in WA) was a big backer of getting the law changed! Easiest decision I ever made on a ballot.![]()
Bought 4 bottles yesterday at Costco. They were flying off the shelves and remember they can't restock this item as this is not something they can usually procure on demand. Last year 17 year old Kirkland brand Macallan was on shelves for only 2 weeks. This batch has been procured and sold to Costco by Alexander Murray & Co who are leading private label whiskey
Also this is not peaty and very smooth. 20yr makes a difference. Plus these are finished in sherry oak casks which Macallan does as well.
