gah i cant decide if i should get it on the PC or just say F it and get it on the console

PC imo. If the kb/mouse controls seem clunky, just plug in an xbox controller. And if you've got a machine with an hdmi out, you can use a TV for a bigger screen too. Plus, PC means you can use it with Steam, which means you can play anywhere, on any machine. Can't do that with the console versions unless you bring the physical disk (and possibly the console) with you.

Can't play the game. Cinematics are black. When I enter the world to start playing it's black. Menus appear when I hit "Esc".

WTF?

The art style is terrible (environment looks like WoW), but I downloaded the demo and will try it tonight. Pretty sure I won't like it enough to buy though.

Force AA in CCC or disable Post Processing in-game. Every Radeon gets this (I forced AA on mine).

Hm... I'm not sure what I think about the game. In the beginning, the lack of a mouse sensitivity option was really bothering me, but I got a bit used to the super snappy camera movement. I don't like the way you use abilities in the game. You essentially swap to them using a number key and then right click to use the ability.

I guess it's because I played more of the JRPG games, but I don't really get into the more "realism" aspects of some RPGs. I found it a bit annoying if you steal something and get caught. Unless you go to jail and lose EXP (or get lucky and bribe actually works), no one will talk to you in the town. It's bad enough that if there's an enemy (including a scared townsfolk) near you, you cannot even loot a body for some reason. :| I had some shopkeeper near me and I sat there mashing F over top of a glowing body, but nothing happened.

Consider letting us skip more menu crap, and do not make the button to continue different each time! One time it was enter, one time it was F, and so on. When teaching the whole fate aspect of the game, it was a bit irritating, because the game refused to let me do anything until I hit X, but if I hit X, I was a sitting duck for the three enemies!

EDIT:

Going more into the realism aspect. I assume the % by the item in a locked chest represents the chance you can steal it without being caught. Although, it seems so odd that a locked chest in a room where the guard is upstairs and I had a 90% chance of getting away with it still ended up with me getting caught. If you want to go with realism, why wasn't it 100%?

I'm sure this won't matter in the retail version, since there's a 50-page thread about the camera on the studio's forums, but there is a mouse sensitivity option in the demo, it's just named "camera sensitivity" for some stupid reason. Turning it all the way down made the demo playable for me.

I'm pretty sure the demo had a mouse sensitivity option because it was really high when i started and I lowered it.

I played the demo. I thought the combat was interesting but the graphics are just too poor to keep me interested...they are worse looking than WoW was in 2004 IMO. Graphics level is about the same as Dungeon Siege 1/2. The story/setting seemed interesting but the dialogue is just so bland for some reason...it just didn't draw me in at all. Overall not at all impressed, will not be buying unless on sale for < $20 and I'm super bored.

Really don't know what to think about this game...played the demo but at some point let the timer run while I was doing other things.

It sure has some nice stuff like the leveling up system and skills. Choosing our destinies and lots of choices is nice.

Loved how the casting/combat goes. Left clicking with the fireball staff and right clicking for the Spark spell was really fun. Same goes with melee/block and backstab animations. Pretty cool and solid combat system.

I'm on the fence but leaning more toward the "Pre-order" side than the "I don't car for this game" side.

I'll sleep on that.

I thought the first level was a bit too long and rather uninteresting, because not much really happens. There are maybe five fights and a whole lot of running and picking up random junk.

Ah, thanks for that. If only I would have realized it! :p

FYI You can replay the demo, it doesn't limit the number of times, just the duration of each play through. Also, you have the option of skipping the starter/tutorial dungeon.

Art style of KoA really isn't my style, however it's a nice change from the realism of close competitors (Skyrim, TW2, Risen, etc.), and is certainly colorful. I can tell that they did the engine this way for a direct development path for the KoA MMO, but if all the content of a SP RPG is there, I don't mind. Why? Simply because the combat and character development really is that good. Combat is satisfying and seems to have weight to it, and the skills/character development is more than simply "+X% to critical hit" (although they have that there too ;)).

On the bad side, story seems relatively interesting, but delivery is stale. The VOs are good, but the writing, like I said, is stale. Gonna treat this one as more a beefed up ARPG rather than relying on the story.

Well WTH I pre-ordered it. Just for the combat/leveling system and mostly to encourage the studio and people behind the game, they deserve it.

I am kind of curious. I have both a PC and a 360. From everything I have seen/read about the combat system it looks like it was designed with Consoles in mind. Now normally I am all 100% behind PC over console. but have seen in recent months that more and more Console port to PC is not very favorable translation.

So what is the general feel here. Is it a Console game ported to PC and therefore probably better on the Console? Or are people feeling that the Port is good enough to warrent purchase on the PC?

Finally got around to downloading the demo last night. Coming from Skyrim, I really enjoy the vibrant colors and environments. Graphics could certainly be better, but it's not that big of a negative for me. I think the biggest thing this game going for it is the combat, which is hella fun. It's also comforting to read that this is a 3 month old build and a lot of the bugs/issues have been ironed out for release. Definitely will be purchasing.

Can't speak for anyone else, but in my opinion PC is the way to go. If you prefer a controller to kb/mouse, plug in a 360 controller (or buy a cheap pc controller). The ability to use Steam renders the game "portable," which you don't get with consoles (yet, but I hear it's in the works for next-gen systems). Also, I prefer to play at 1920x1200, which is a lot easier on a PC. Multi-monitor setups also make PC more attractive to me. I could go on, but you get the idea :)

Feels a lot like a single player WoW universe w/ pretty good action RPG based combat. Went ahead and pre-ordered the download version on Amazon for $51 and pre-loaded it on Origin. Looking forward to spending more time with it. Based on the demo, the thing I like least about it at this point is the minimap that doesn't turn based on direction.

Sounds like you people are liking what you see...I'm guessing it won't reach the $12.49 Steam or Green Man sale price after a couple of months like some games...?

They all do eventually...Space Marine came out in the fall and it was $12.49 this week. I want to support this new studio, however, so I preordered this one at full price. Launch week means everything to these companies in terms of building for the future.

I don't know... I'm still on the fence about it. I think it could be fun, but I also think the game could have used some play tests in regard to PC playing.

Don't forget that the demo is 3 months old and they worked on bugs and other anomalies for the tomorrow release.

I pre-ordered it to encourage this studio, which IMO made a great job with this game and it shows. Hope to see more good games from them in the future.

Every new game on release has bugs look at Skyrim,Witcher 2,Dragon Age 2 etc..you can bet a patch or two will be available a some point.

I still have the game on pre-order(10th Feb in Europe) however I will be taking my time in the game exploring every area and quest.

Finally got around to playing the demo yesterday. Game play seems fun and very action oriented. Played it on my PC but am thinking about getting it for a console. Reason being that the controls for the keyboard were very difficult to get used to (IMHO), and just felt like they were designed for a controller. which isn't to say that I couldn't plug my game controller into my PC. but just feel that it was designed for console and don't want to have any issues with the 'Port'.

In any event, haven't finished with Skyrim so no decision yet.
