Killing is morally fine. Morals are a tricky thing though, depends a lot on the circumstance. I really don't give two figs about animals. I don't go out of my way to kill animals, and I don't think others should, but if they really have a reason for doing it(I wanted to is not a real reason), kill away.

The way of the world is kill or be killed, circle of life and all that jazz. Human civilization has allowed us to remove ourselves from that reality, but not because it is no longer valid but because people stand ready to do the violence you'd rather not hear about.

Fair enough 🙂

Oh, and neckarb doesn't make fun of any of us for being loud, stupid, Americans, so lay off of his heritage. It's a really weak line of attack anyway.

And if you truly want to get technical about it, the English invented the English language, so they can spell shit however they bloody want, and it is the right way.

Citizens of the United Kingdom

English people are British
Scottish people are British
Welsh people are British

British people aren't English.

Call us all British or call us by our country.

*facepalm

don't call me american, I'm from Illinois D:

seriously though, nice troll thread.

I'da shot the coyote too. I've killed innumerous amounts of rabbits that like to poach my moms garden(yes, there is a fence, they are crafty little suckers)

They are extremely over populated here, to the point they could damage the ecosystem.

Illinois isn't your nationality.

I'm English.

Killing humans when forced to in self-defense is fine.
Killing humans in wartime when following all rules of engagement is fine.
Killing human criminals who have earned the death penalty is fine.
Killing humans to end their terminal suffering is fine, with consent.
Killing animals for food or to eliminate varmints or pests is fine.
Killing animals to further necessary life-saving medical science is fine.
Killing animals to end their terminal suffering or threat to society is fine.

I'm sure there are some instances when killing is fine that I am missing, but if you ask me specifically if "killing is fine" without any qualification then I'd have to answer NO.

pretty much it.

i'm not opposed to killing. i am opposed to senseless killing.

Hi People

I have been informed recently that the majority of people on this forum would argue that "Killing is fine" is that the case?! Here's a poll. let me know.

Neckarb

Edit: to clarify, when I say "Killing" I mean taking a life.

For some reason I was in a thread a minute ago, and quite a few people were saying killing is fine, a very finite statement with many repercussions I was told that most people agree with that statement.

For me the notion to kill anything is unacceptable except in self defence.

I apologise for the crudity of the question, particularly how non-specific it is, but the validity of that statement is what I am trying to assess. I have no other information to provide as that is the statement what was originally made

The statment originated in: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2133856

Which was dealing with killing a Coyote however it soon derailed and ended up discussing the rather non-specific statement that "Killing is fine" all encompassing killing in general. This I took issue with and wanted a wider opinion than those in the thread.

Here I am.

I should also add this question is from a Moral perspective. "Morally/ ethically" fine.

GTFO you vegan. I like meat and you cant stop me from eating it. I'm enjoying a piece of fried chicken right now. You can't stop me, na na na na na na.

I love meat. Man meat, cow meat, every kind of meat.

The British are trolling, the British are trolling!

Going into a thread, contributing nothing and calling someone a troll... Is the definition of being a troll. 😉

Please read sig.

But your sig is a quote taken out of context.

I like to eat. Animals are food, and they're good.

I live in town now, so I don't have any predators to worry about, but we do get mice and rats on the yard/garden from time to time. You can bet your ass that if they're eating my tomatoes, I'm gonna set traps to kill them.

BoomerD says killing is fine, and gives examples when/why he believes it is fine:

1. Food;
2. Self defense;
3. Defense of property.

Do you really take issue with that?
