Anyone else see this movie tonight?

I've never read the comic or anything, but I liked the idea of the premise. The movie reminded me a lot of Shoot 'Em Up with the sort of campy, stylized action. The soundtrack was fairly good... it had a few songs from The Prodigy ( Omen (without vocals) and Stand Up from their latest album: Invaders Must Die) and oddly enough... it had songs from 28 Weeks Later. It might sound odd, but the song they used (Don Abandons Alice which is similar to Leaving England) is one of my favorite songs off the soundtrack. So, it wasn't exactly bad to hear it again 😉.

One thing I noticed, the chick from the daytime soap Young and the Restless, Lyndsy Fonseca, seems to be in quite a few movies lately... she was also in Hot Tub Time Machine. Don't soap actors/actresses normally never make the movie star jump?

But enough blabbing... if you think you might enjoy it or need a movie with some good one-liners or some crazy action... give it a shot. It might just... (oh, I am gunna say it) kick ass.
 
Hadn't even heard about this till this morning and I've been seeing tons of crazy good reviews for it. I don't go out to see movies on the opening weekends because I can't stand tweens but this will be a Monday movie for sure I think.

I read the comic and have to say it has been probably one of the best to come out in the last 10 years or so. Really a great read and Millar is a hell of a writer. Look for tons of clever hilarious lines mixed in with awesome gory violence.

Honestly it got greenlighted for a movie with only the fourth book of the first volume out. That is how great it is.


My buddy was going to go with me tonight and bring his kid... I laughed and had to send him this quick:

Rated R for strong brutal violence throughout, pervasive language, sexual content, nudity and some drug use - some involving children.

I don't understand how this had like 2,000 reviews on IMDB as far back as 2 weeks ago (when I first saw a commercial for this).
 
I thought they weren't supposed to have super powers? How come in the trailers the 9 year old kid has what seem to be super powers?

I saw the sneak peak of kick-ass, and hit-girl does not have super power. I really enjoy the movie. Hit-girl really kick-ass in that movie; nick cage plays big daddy, looks and speak very similar to the old batman of the 70's.

I give it a 4.5 out of 5.

She doesn't have powers. She's just exceptionally well-trained by her father, "Big Daddy, " which is covered in the movie.

Yeah, it's stupid and unrealistic but she's supposed to be the counter-point to Kick Ass. He has no training and just puts on a stupid costume and literally gets his ass kicked regularly. If I say anymore it'll be spoiler-ish so I won't.

Yeah, the drug scene with children is just Red Mist smoking a joint. If you want to say anything... it technically gives out a good message since Kick Ass denies the joint 😛.

Most of that R rating is from violence (if it gives you any idea, I think the new Rambo movie is more violent) and a helluva lot of swearing.
 
I was thinking about going to see this, but for some reason it's not in the only theater we have here 🙁 wtf...
 
Just got back from the movie and didn't see a thread started on it. If you have a sense of humor and don't mind seeing a little teen girl absolutely tear people apart with blood flying everywhere while using words like cock and wise and beautiful woman, then go see it. People in the theater were laughing their ass off.


I assumed this movie was going to fail hard, it looked real cheesy from the previews, but the reviewers on imdb.com and rottentomatoes.com mostly loved it so I decided to go see it. I'm glad I did, I'm sure some people will be offended after seeing it but most will love it.


Some reviewers are calling it evil, talk about a stick up their ass:
