Seems more like you are trying desperately to convince everyone that the only choice is the Telluride or GV80. Just trying to say that there *are* viable alternatives. This is a forum for open discussion, not trying to drive your point of view down other people's throats.
Oh, anandtech.

When did I say such thing? Honda Pilot is a fine standard setting SUV. I'd be happy with a well priced Honda. Also CX-9 but it's too small.

I just said GV80 is too expensive for me. And Telluride/Palisades are feature-rich for the money.

Subaru Ascent is nice too. VW Atlas is a terrible disappointment.

You need to have a drink or something - go read my posts in this thread. You are way too sensitive, my dude.

The Kia Telluride is considered the best mid sized nonluxury SUV by almost all credible car review publications online and print. The only cons most sites can come up with are the single exhaust and skinny looking tires. Yes there are alternatives but they are not as nice and generally will cost more money.

The base 4 banger in the GV80 is a lot better than the CX9s 4 banger(290 vs 227).Also regarding AWD it’s competitors don’t come standard with AWD either. And they cost $10k+ more starting out.

The Telluride is not only the best packaged non luxury SUVs on the market, it has the longest warranty and is also cheaper when comparing apples to apples. The GV80 is likely to get wide spread acclaim as well. It’s presales have already out preformed.

In a class where a 10 year old platform, the Grand Cherokee is still better than most newer mid sized suv platforms it tells you the automakers are putting out overpriced shit in this class. There’s only about 8 mid sized non luxury suvs worth buying and Hyundai/Kia makes two of them.

If I was a mom who considers herself sensible but needs a living room full of crap everywhere I go because my kids have become functionally retarded due to my overparenting I would be all over this thing.

Sensible mom would purchase a minivan. Cheaper and better at everything when it comes to kids.

When you say this it gives me the impression that you haven't actually looked at minivan prices. There's only around 7 of these now and 4 of them start at the same price as a Telluride or more. There are only 3 cheapy vans left. They don't even get better MPG than the Telluride or other similar SUVs. You put leather in two of those cheapy vans and they're more than a Telluride. OK optioned minivans cost the same as SUV counterparts, they just give twice the space.

Minivans are gettng very generous discounts though (5500 to 7500), in contrast to the Telluride. I looked at a local Chrysler dealer and most were advertised at a final selling price of around 35,000.

I would never pay over MSRP for any car. Don't tell me the MSRP is $35k and then try to charge me $40k for it. I will walk right out of there. If you priced it too low then raise the MSRP and I will decide if that is acceptable to pay or if some other competing vehicle will better serve my needs.

You'd have to be nuts to pay over MSRP for a KIA. That's money down a rathole you might as well light on fire. Some limited edition cars... maybe. Kia, never.

Kia continues to sell them as fast as they can make them and get them imported into the US. The SX Prestige’s are again going above MSRP in most of the country. People want MSRP are having to order and wait 3 months for delivery again. I seriously hope the GV80 puts downward price pressure on the Telluride or I’m going to have to take it off my list. At this point I don’t have three months to wait.

If I could find Telluride SX Prestige Night Fall Edition with Black Ext/Int I would purchase at MSRP.

I've seen a few a bunch of them now in the wild now and they look really bad in person, like one of those silly Chinese knock off SUVs. Get a Highlander if you really want a mom-mobile.

Ive seen plenty of them in person... As for the highlander, its worse looking and its interior(like most Toyotas) is extremely dated. If I were to buy a Toyota, their only SUV worth buying right now is the Rav4 Hybrid. I was hopeful for the rebooted Venza but all early reviews are, "Whats the point. buy a Rav4 Hybrid and save $5k."

There are only a total of 4 black on black SX Prestige Nighthawks ever produced so far. All had vins created this month. The odds of me snagging one(even though one is coming to Texas) is slim to none unless I want to pay $10k over MSRP, or wait a long time for an order. I might as well wait and get a GV80 at that point.

For the price fo a Telluride I could easily get a Model Y, but subjectively the fully loaded Telluride is a far more luxurious vehicle. The Model Y is a great car but really lacking in luxury for the price point and honestly its make no financial sense to buy an EV at this point. I almost purchased a fully loaded Jeep Gladiator Overland for about 25% off MSRP at the height of the lockdowns, but honestly the Gladiators aren't meant to do much highway driving. They drive like shit on the highway at highway speeds and I have a 80 mile round trip commute. If I didn't have that commute I probably would have purchased it. I am hoping more info on the new two and three row Jeep Grand Cherokee comes out soon to see if its worth waiting for. I'll test drive a Venza when they come out but right now its a looking like Rav4 Hybrid in my future.

Here is the link for Car and Drivers Long Term Road Test for the Telluride.

Interesting take.

After test driving the model Y performance I find its overall ride quality exceptional. The motor response, noise levels and handling were excellent.

Tell me, from your standpoint - what really do you find more luxurious in the Telluride? I can think of 2 particular items - the AC for the seats and heating for the steering wheel.

Another thing which I'd choose an EV over ICE is the driving experience from motor response alone. It is exactly like using a SSD versus floppy disk.

7-passenger and 5000lb towing. Y only has 6.6 inches of ground clearance, compared to 8" of Kia. 68 cu ft of cargo space in Y, 87 in Telluride. Telluride is 10" longer and 2" wider making it much more spacious/roomy.

Telluride is a Model X competitor. The Santa Fe is a Model Y competitor. You have to ignore price as the dimensions alone are so far apart.. Just like the Accord is a 5-series/E-Class competitor and not a A3 competitor even though pricing is similar.

Napa leather in Kia is superior to the Model Y as well. Has Tesla integrated Android Auto or CarPlay yet?

If I drove 80 miles a day, Model Y would be like a dream. Why would you want to drive anything else if you have that kind of daily commute? Autopilot and full charge every morning. No brainer.

Maybe you want something that costs less than 60k. Maybe you want a car that can be used for long trips. Maybe you dont have access to a charger overnight where you live. It is a very nice car, but calling it a "no brainer" is certainly not accurate for everyone.

I see no place in the Toyota lineup for the Venda. It’s a more expensive, uglier, and less useful RAV4.

I would say budget brands of the likes of Kia and Subaru have been really putting pressure on others.

There is absolutely no doubt that the price of SUVSs needs to drastically go down.

TL;DR:
  1. Kia enters large SUV segment with Telluride - loaded with features, amazing interior & exterior, solid engine, best in class infotainment, solid AWD, etc.
  2. Telluride enjoys an explosive success - from consumers to critics.
  3. Now selling at $3,000-$12,000 above MSRP right now.

I called my local Kia dealerships - two of them - both saying they're selling well above MSRP.

What`s the issue again??? Or is this a non issue??
I really don`t understand the problem?
Can anybody elucidate the problem?

They're eating up fleet sales too. Rental car companies buy them. I think customer brand perception is the only thing that keeps them buying Japanese and American cars.
