Why didn't Collins bring up garland in her rant about congressional duties and the constitution?

Bc she's full of shit.

This whole will she/won't she was just a "I'm a moderate and care about RvW" ruse.

Yeah, bullshit. Flake too. You knew it was always going this way. At least now the masks are off

Throw your $20.20 down now against her in 2020.
It's up over $2M now. Make her pay for this.

Hey.... SHE'S A REPUBLICAN.
REALLY!
What did we expect???????
Republicans stick together like snot on a stick.
We all knew this would happen.
A sad day for women of sexual assault. A very sad day.
Barefoot and pregnant, that's the woman's place.
Affirmed once again by old farts, and I mean REALLY OLD FARTS in congress.

I always figured that Collins was likely a yes but the protracted explanation that Kav won’t do the very things her GOP colleagues are supporting him for is kind of mind blowing. That speech was built in a lab to infuriate Dem voters. May not turn out to be such a great plan a month from now.

The most frustrating part about this is the politicians, that support Kavanagh, that claim they believe Ford and then claim that there wasn't enough evidence to support her. You can't have it both ways. You either believe her or you don't.

That's tough though, if the evidence isn't there, do you condemn him just because you believe her?

Not to mention she'll overlook the part where he lied to the committee & the world. No problemo.

I posted 100 pages ago that it sometimes seems women's biggest hurdles to fair treatment are other women.

If Collins can't buck the party and demand more after the shitshow with Ford and the joke of an investigation, why should any woman expect to taken seriously?

It's a big, fuck you, don't care.

Please please please repeal RvW ASAP.

Let's see how women react in Nov.

That was sort of my takeaway. Let's just close the book and move on with anger in 4 weeks. Open that enthusiasm gap back up. She got gamed by McConnell in a matter of hours for her vote on the tax bill. This one seems like a pretty vulnerable check list of things she's going to get punked on in the future.

Also - the crowd funded page for her future democrat rival crashed a few minutes ago because so many people were donating to it during this speech.

You think that's frustrating? Just wait until we get all the op-eds claiming that Trump is a brilliant politician and President for not backing down from a fight and doubling down on Kavanaugh after all the controversy. When anyone else would've cut and run, he fought and won. When anyone else would've thought, "hmm, not sure if the allegations are true, but maybe best to move on and heal the divide" Trump just wedged a sledgehammer in that divide.

God this is going to be nauseating quite a bit longer.

Everyone knows Flake is a flake. Thats why he's not running again here in AZ...we essentially kicked him out

Unless forced, they'll only do it when they know they're actually done as a party. Until then Rs will always use it as the bait and always pull it away. Assholes gonna asshole.

Cillizza is going to be all over that.

Plus they are trying to change the definition of "collaborating evidence."

Nobody had cum stains and video evidence from Harvey Weinstein, but Susan Collins says contemporaneous notes and testimony doesn't matter.

Green lights to all the creepers on how not to get punished.

Say goodbye to the currently recognized constitutionally protected right of privacy, which is what Roe v. Wade (and Griswold v. Ct, a 1965 outlawing laws that prevented married couples from getting the Pill) were based on. All you purported libertarians (including Rand Paul, the biggest phony of them all) better realize what you have "achieved" in this so-called win for the team.

Be prepared for massive permitted government intrusions in the future. Legal contraception could follow abortion in being outlawed.

Almost as delusional as Collins thinking Kavanaugh won't overturn Roe v. Wade. I guess she totally missed all of Trump's talk of using a litmus test, and hadn't bothered to read his decision on point.

I'm not surprised Flake backed down, after all he is running for the GOP nomination in 2020. He will never get it in a million years, but voting his conscience would make his chances even lower.

What?! I can't believe it? They would do that!!

Are you saying it's only a vote scoring tactic and they never actually want to give it up lest lose the single issue evangelicals?!

😕

Yes, she is out on quite the limb here and available polling indicates that if Kavanaugh rules the way he's certainly going to rule her seat is in contention.

In the end the GOP got their man and only had to delegitimize the nomination process and now the court itself to get there. Burning down the institutions for partisan gain.
