When considering feasibility/probability, look at motive.

If he didn't molest these women, what motive do they have to publicly accuse him?

They are paying a cost for this: death threats, having to move their family (with the first woman at least). Knowing the kind of nutters that are out there, I wouldn't put my family in danger unless I was getting something very, very big in return. Even without the danger, putting yourself in front of cameras for the whole world to decide about you isn't an easy thing. One woman is risking her career (clearance).

So what would that be the thing they are getting in return? Two possibilities come to mind.
Money, a lot of it
Justice

If it's money, it's something we can find out, correct?

In short, they are either getting paid off bigtime for this, or they believe Kavanaugh molested them. I don't believe someone would just make up shit for no reason and put their families through this.

People are on airplanes crying watching her testimony.

Not dropping this nom will end up being one of the great political mistakes of my generation.

SHS told reporters on AF1 that Trump is watching the hearing, I imagine he wasn't too happy with Chris Wallace's remark that this is a disaster for Republicans.

HUGE tactical mistake by the GOP to ask this Lawyer to facilitate questioning Dr Ford.

is she a witness? a defendant? is this a legal hearing? testimony to insert into a case? are there crimes charged? what are we doing here???

The lawyer is doing her job, no mistake on her part. But this is all part of the logistics of an actual police (fbi) investigation and should not be a part of a congressional hearing.

This makes no sense for the GOP or the WH. The Democrat members of the committee are getting all the "wins" here today.

Listening to it at work and I'm hooked. Certainly tough to listen to her read her opening statement, but she is entirely believable. This is awful for the GOP.

EDIT: Yeah, the GOP's strategy of having a sexual harassment lawyer question Ford seems to have completely backfired.

Emerging GOP consensus is that having this outside prosecutor effectively do what is an intake interview in these blocks is beyond useless.

The GOP lawyer is trying to get some facts about the alleged assault. It's difficult for Kavanaugh to prove he wasn't involved when no one knows when it happened, where it happened or who was there when it allegedly happened. How can he give an alibi proving he wasn't there as long as Dr. Ford can't give more facts about the alleged assault?

Dem senators effectively continuing to bolster her credibility and blunt potential criticisms while blowing back on GOP decision to not call other witnesses.

This is a bloodbath. Can't wait to hear what Kavanaugh has to say.

I hear the FBI is pretty good at investigating and establishing facts.

I’m pretty sure the Senate Judiciary Committee is aware of this and since this questioning clearly shows their sincere desire to get the facts I wonder why they didn’t ask the FBI to investigate?

great idea comrade!!

gather facts about an alleged assault, sort of like...perform a police investigation....right? Something the entire country wants except for congressional republicans and the WH.

You miss my point. Using the congressional hearing for as someone described above as an "Intake" interview is beyond stupid.

And Grassley now breaking in to defend GOP handling of this issue. Not a great sign.

WTF are they doing now? "You have a fear of flying but you've flown a lot! You're a liar!"?
