Karate is explicitly and in any form or manner Japanese.

Anyone who is retarded enough to think otherwise is an idiot.

Yea, I agree, but it doesn't stop people from doing it. I knew a Tae Kwon Do place that had their street sign say karate because people more easily identified that with Martial Arts than TKD when they put up the sign; It's stupid, but I guess it kept people from coming in looking for chinese food : p

It's a Karate Kid remake...

Or so I thought.

But since Karate is just Kung Fu without um, weapons... I don't think it matters much.

It *basically* is what it is. The name itself means "the way of the open hand".

It was developed from some sort of Chinese Kenpo, which is all rooted in Chinese Kung Fu.

I was talking about the weapons part. You implicity stated Kung Fu is Karate with weapons.

korean ? you gotta be kidding me.

watch karate kid 2, the style is supposely Okinawan's. rooted in Shorin-Ryu Karate Do, Master Chojun Myagi took the Naha-Te system and developed it into Go-Ju Karate Do.

In the late 1800s a young Japanese Officer by the name of Funakosi began studying the Okinawan styles and developed his own style of Shotokan Karate Do.

As students began learning these styles and changing them as they saw fit to develop there own style, various names sprung up everywhere. In 1936, the Okinawan master met to decide upon a generalized term to cover all the Okinawan styles. They deliberated between To-Te and Kara-Te Do for some time but eventually decided on Kara-Te, which is now commonly called Karate.

so it came from Ryukyu Island, predates Japan. until Japan took that island and named it Okinawa.

no need for a long winded explanation. you all look the same.

don't worry. js80 and pig share the same political and religious views. you can read about how much they hate arabs in P&N. no wonder one pig is defending the other.

we should have a poal to see who ATOT wants banned: classy vs. theflyingpig

You are stupider than I thought. flyingpig is an atheist, I am not.

PS Why do you hate jews so much?

That could be implied if you had a very poor cursory knowledge of Kung Fu. Kung Fu obviously encompasses both armed and unarmed combat aspects.

Well I guess that's what you implied then.

English language fail maybe?
You could have just said Karate is like the hand to hand aspect of Kung Fu instead of lumping all Kung Fu as weaponized combat.

real classy response loser. the old, tired 'why hate jews' attack. look at your avatar. if i hated joos i would've used an equally offensive avatar myself. wither back into obscurity, u P&N troll

You know I look at this thread and I just laugh. This is a prime example of how petty and completely retarded some folks here really are. You got people upset over the remake of Karate Kid. LOL. Are you kidding me? They are attacking the kid, his parents, and even a true class act of guy in Jackie Chan. You even got one fool who doesn't even know why he dislikes an 11 year old kid, hehehehehehehe. All this over the remake of the critically acclaimed "b-movie" Karate Kid. Good thing we didn't have these movie purists on the internets when they casted Hilary Swank in Karate Kid 15 😛

English Language fail? My English SATs were higher than my Math, and they were both higher than YOURS. I work in LAW, English language fail... ah fuck if that ever cracks me up.

YOUR English language failed maybe.

Implications are only relevant in context, if you have no social culture, you have no context. Anything anyone then says to you must be explicit, or you will have assumed an implication of something completely fucked up.

How do you know what gimmewhitecastles got on the SATs?

Apparently in China this movie is called just "The Kid." But who in China wants to watch a movie about a black kid who moves to china to beat up chinese kids?
