There is something about Jaden Smith that I just can not like him, don't know what it is..and it is not the fact that he is black either.

i have no love for the original, however, jackie as a brand of quality no long exists.
the spy next door...wtf awful fail

🙄

Of course its not because he's black, I mean there has to be something to dislike about the 11 year old kid whom you have never met.

i think it's the fact that he's sporting corn rolls in the middle of china and wonders why everybody picks on him.

i hate how hollywood classifies all asian martial arts as "karate".
but hollywood has never been PC when it comes to asian cultures.

It's probably the fact that this movie was Will Smith's idea, Will Smith is producing it, and it stars Will Smith's son. Unlike some other child "stars" who got their start because of acting ability or cuteness (Macauley Caulkin, Haley Joel Osment, Dakota Fanning) or those with some connections (Drew Barrymore), this is obviously the Fresh Prince pushing the Fresh Prince's agenda and forcing his son upon the world to humanity's collective detriment.

I think it has more to do with the reason he is an actor because of his dad, not because he can act. This took away the chance for another actor that can act, etc, and that's why I dislike for that. This is like someone is a manager because of connections, not because he/she is a good manager, and I have no respect for people like that. nepotism sucks, but that's life.

Kung-fu kid.

Jackie Chan = Wushu and Chinese

Jaden Smith = Black kid

Karate = Korean/not Jackie Chan

New Karate Kid movie = No sense being made/money maker

Everyone knows this.

this version is catered towards today's generation. we all loved the one from the 80s, they will feel the same 30 years later when another remake pops up. its a cycle man

korean ? you gotta be kidding me.

watch karate kid 2, the style is supposely Okinawan's. rooted in Shorin-Ryu Karate Do, Master Chojun Myagi took the Naha-Te system and developed it into Go-Ju Karate Do.

In the late 1800s a young Japanese Officer by the name of Funakosi began studying the Okinawan styles and developed his own style of Shotokan Karate Do.

As students began learning these styles and changing them as they saw fit to develop there own style, various names sprung up everywhere. In 1936, the Okinawan master met to decide upon a generalized term to cover all the Okinawan styles. They deliberated between To-Te and Kara-Te Do for some time but eventually decided on Kara-Te, which is now commonly called Karate.

so it came from Ryukyu Island, predates Japan. until Japan took that island and named it Okinawa.

This. Thanks Pepsei.

my fav quote from the first one:

I want him out of commission.
But Sensei, I can beat this guy!
I don't want him beaten.
But I'll be disqualified!
Out. of. commission.

Well, the karate I took was the Korean form...soo...either Japanese or Korean, doesnt matter, its still not Chinese or Wushu...everyone knows this.

Usually, if you say karate you're atleast talking about some sort of japanese one. You probably took Tae Kwon Do or Kuk Sool without them actually calling it that for whatever reason. A lot of places just call any martial arts their doing karate though it's not really accurate.

Karate is explicitly and in any form or manner Japanese.

Anyone who is retarded enough to think otherwise is an idiot.
