The excuses are just going to be: the president should be able to appoint as he sees for.
The recess appointment can only work if the Senate and House can actually agree to recess for more than a few days, since they both must consent to the other, and under Noel Canning, a short recess is not enough time to do a recess appointment.
If both are GQP controlled. What’s to stop them? Not saying it’ll happen but Dictator Orange wants it to happen.
Those issues were weak, diversions, and I found it infuriating that they were hammering them in their ads. To me, it felt very dishonest.
Hence why I said for right or for wrong.
I do think people who switched from Biden to Trump were/are miffed about all three. It’s all there in the post mortem conversations I’ve been listening to these past few days. I’ve already ad nauseam went on about inflation. People thinking Trump will keep inflation low while pursuing further tax cuts, and tariffs are in for a rude surprise.
Pertaining to the border, they will argue that Biden-Harris should’ve kept access restricted via Title 42 (at a minimum, if they even know what that is). Hardliners would go further.
And as a response, Democrats then started moderating their positions and would’ve agreed to a conservative border bill. Shit even Harris said she’d sign that same bill. Clearly there was discontent about so many people coming across the border. Even Latinos* were reporting that they were disgruntled with the situation. In a general sense, some people think that the millions of migrants that came across are skipping the line so to speak. You can tell them why they’ve come, that they’re overwhelmingly law abiding, but that it doesn’t change their mind.
On the gender identity issue. The GQP may have landed some points with some about the Kamala commercial saying prison inmates should be afforded sex changes at taxpayer expense. Apparently this would’ve only happened twice! But I’d surmise a majority of people don’t like that. Same with the potential for scholastic sports having transgender girls playing with biological girls. It’s quite rare, but they’ll argue it puts the biological girls to a disadvantage, and they want to shut it down. Even here some Dems essentially ran away from the issue.
I think it’s pretty clear to see when you add these issues (particularly the first two in order) together and if they’re already feeling like they’re not progressing in life per their plan or their expectation, these swing voters can be tipped over towards a deceitful, corrupt, (insert negative adjectives), candidate. They just look past the copious amount of corruption, violent rhetoric, and already determined bad policies thinking that he’ll help them out more than Harris would’ve. Clearly we think that’s incorrect but enough people have bought into this. And now we will all see the shit show that we’re already seeing with these picks.
