I just want to say again how is completely bullshit that these states get so much power just because they have roughly split electorates. The EC is the stupidest thing left in the constitution.
Probably, but it is a close race between the EC and the for life appointments to the Supreme Court.

You know how some on the left are saying why are we cosying up to former GOP neo cons with their rhetoric about Tough on Crime, Tough on the Border..

I can see a future where we need to be Tough on the Constitution's abuse of lifetime positions to install term limits!

Hell 90% of Americans want term limits, background checks, gun control but that shit never passes.

As for the Presidential election, I think Kamala will win the popular vote, but the electoral college is another story. It's a toss up at best. This is pretty much the way I have felt since she took over from Biden. I never did have the confidence of some in this forum that she would win the EC. There was a great surge of relief/momentum when she took over, but I think it has now plateaued. The fact that she is so active, and that Trump is looking more demented than usual, and the needle is still not moving toward Kamala is troubling. I just dont understand what it would take for people to reject Trump. I can understand the 30-35% hardcore MAGA base, but I just dont understand how the Dems can not make a stronger showing with independents and moderate republicans. It is just crazy how so many will recognize how terrible Trump is, but still will not vote for the Dems.

The fact is, the GQP social media propaganda apparatus is FAR more effective. It's a fucking cult with zero need for any accuracy or facts whatsoever.

And for low information voters, it is highly effective at skewing their perceptions.

Look at the case of Hillary Clinton. The shit even MODERATE dems believe about her is absolutely absurd and comes from this blob of right-wing propaganda constantly flooding the zone with shit.

It is the constant fire hosing of misinformation driving this. Bannon literally devised this as flooding the "zone with shit." And it's working. It extends FAR beyond the 30% hardcore MAGA. Way beyond.

Republicans had been attacking her image ever since Bill got elected in 92 and that baggage helped sink her.

Trump wants to go back to the 1890s when the life expectancy of an American was like 40 years and the whole country was way poorer. Though a longing for the era of the robber barons is not really out of character I guess.

I get the whole barbershop talk thing, but why in the fuck are those people in actual barber bibs? One's wearing a damned headband! He's not getting a haircut!

These things really piss me off, it's like his penchant for positioning doctors with fucking stethoscopes and lab coats behind him on rallys. It's just so. fucking. fake.

Not a coincidence that neither women nor black people could vote then. I've always said Maga is nothing more than white people wanting to get back the time where they didn't have to share the top spot. And you didn't have to worry about pesky environmental regulations sapping the economy--just dump that DDT and mercury into the streams!

I wonder how the chess pieces move. When Kamala goes on Fox, does Trump go to a fake town-hall the next day to counter the same segment that she might have moved? Is it a real-time game like that?

No, the VAST majority of this flooding the zone with shit is being played out in social media and ultra right-wing networks. So called "citizen journalists" who simply flood the zone with as much shit as possible,

Exactly. All you have to do to see how their system works is to watch Fox News about a given event and then look at social media and the comments to see the talking points repeated. Add in someone like musk who controls one of the largest social media platforms and it’s virtually an unwinable game.

I think Harris is trying to get those moderate votes but agree with the plateauing.

TheHill's election model today has Trump as the slight favorite for the first time this cycle (52-48%).

Yeah but unfortunately it doesn't determine votes.

Ya know, the usual excuses like "I'm voting for policy, not character" etc.

There is a slice of the R electorate who really really dislikes him and would consider a vote for Harris instead. Fortunately Tump has been intent on giving those people no reason to reconsider how they feel about him. AFAIK this group is heavily female.

I think the number of never Trumpers are overstated, and probably a decent chunk of them still vote GOP at the last second because they just can't bring themselves to vote for a Democrat.

I mean this is basically how Biden won Arizona so yeah they do actually exist as an electoral force. If they didn't Harris would not be trying to court them so extensively.

The answer to insane radical leftists when they say that is to say: Nobody is cozying up to these neo Con republicans nor supporting their policies - this is purely a way to show how 'hey, if these loon righties can put country over party and vote against Trump, then so can you (to moderates and Never Trumper republicans).

They are not validating their positions in any way. It's a nice way of saying 'look at the right-wing crazies endorsing us! join the club!'

Please don't validate the absolutely bonkers radical left's crazy statements.

The Barber Shop was cool, but I have a feeling Kornfield County would be bright orange.
