I have a JVC XV-N55SL right now, it plays DVD+R, -R, +RW, VCD, SVCD, and multisession MP3 CD-RW's with no problems. It plays other things like WMA and DVD-RW, but I haven't tried those.

This JVC looks like a good one. I'd pick it up if I needed another DVD player or knew someone that could use one for Christmas.

Is there any DVD Player out there that doesn't have some kind of pause on the layer changes???
I have noticed the pause on every player I've watched a movie where it's split between layers.

hehe but the 3201 was a easy remote control hack that I have used for 1+ yr to make b@ckups of my r3ntals to VHS that look super.

Thas was a hot deal except $20 rebate cools it a tad.

My JVC XV-N55SL, RCA DRS7000N, and the Panasonic DVD-RV32 that I used to have all seem to change layers seamlessly without the pause.

Are there DVD Players out there that have a one sec buffer for laser refocusing? I would say a good 90+% of people can't even see the pause. When I watch movies with others, they don't even notice it. I can see it and will say something but no one knows what I'm talking about. Some of the shorter movies <90 minutes are on the same layer so they don't have a pause.

A good example is in the "Pefect Storm", when the Coast Guards in a helicopter braves the storm to try and rescue some fishermen. There is a noticable pause during the sequence.

I can see the pause on these models: Panasonic DVD-RV31, JVC 523, Apex AD-2600 and AD-1500.

Cheers,
Bas
