Just puked :(

Mom always said clear liquids. Powerade is mostly clear, and has more electrolytes and stuff your body needs when you're getting dehydrated. I should get whatever is easier on the stomach-- to see if I can keep it down. Would Powerade be any harder on the stomach than Sprite?

In my experience and the experience of many other people who've really pushed themselves hard, Gatorade (and powerade is at least as bad) greatly encourages vomiting when under serious duress (it depends on the person, though, personally whenever I do a race I dilute it substantially if I use it at all). It is mostly sugar, maybe it's a bit better than coke, but not massively. Its electrolyte content is mildly significant but not terribly much. Endurance athletes generally opt for additional electrolytes (and, to be clear, you don't need to worry about electrolyte supplementation at all unless you're really sweating like a stuck pig for a long time). Also, many do in fact drink coke. Sports-drinks sound a lot better than soda but are not actually that much better.

HEED by Hammer Nutrition is a bit more costly, and you may have to buy it in local bike/running store or online, but it's head over heels better than Gatorade. It has a subtle taste that's not over the top, but like I said, you really don't need any energy drink unless engaged in serious activity for an extended duration. I guess if you play soccer you would qualify!

Is this illness induced or is this exercise induced?

Sport drinks would be way preferable. Soda is out because carbonation would only upset your stomach more unless you let it sit until flat. Sports drinks will at least give your body a chance to absorb some useful nutrients and hydration. Powerade, though, is really not the greatest choice. Vitamin Water or something along those lines would be best.

Great question.
Also are we talking about projectile vomiting, dry heaves, or a small mouthful of stomach acid?
When I puke stomach acid while training I take a tums, and try to burp out as much air as possible before the next set.
For general nausea I recommend ginger ale, and chewable pepto bismol.

This is exactly what I was going to say. For illness, I try to avoid anything with bubbles or flavor. Things such as tums/pepto bismol have a flavor that doesn't offend my senses and seems to calm my stomach. Depending on how you feel, milk may do you some good. Milk settles my stomach in general. To each his own though.

Clear liquids my ass. I had the stomach flu for 3 days once. About 12 hours throwing up once an hour, living on the toiler for the rest. I pretty much ate nothing and drank only blue Gatorade. Worked like a charm.
