Yep, Senior.

I'm on Brooks south of campus several blocks (more like 10 or so).

That looks suspiciously not ghetto for UW-Mad housing. Must be an expensive place.

Be sure to check out four star video haven (I believe on henry?), they have a much better selection than blockbuster.

Wow, that's exactly where I thought you might live based on the not-too-ghettoness of the floors and walls. I couldn't remember the name of that street, but a friend of mine lived on brooks too. They had a 4-5 bedroom place that was pretty pimped out with a HT too. Word of warning, don't do what one of his roommates did and keep your car parked outside without a permit for months thereby resulting in your license getting revoked.

I think we're going to get netflicks (netflix?) going :)

This is a two bedroom, but it could be a four bedroom (or even 6 if you were desperate) house. Something like 1200 sq. feet.

That sucks about the street parking. We have a garage with an attached heated/air conditioned room separate from the house (one of the optional bedrooms I mentioned ;)) and a driveway that could fit another two cars.

Why is everyone surprised at the housing? Is Madison known for poor quality housing? That's the only con I've ever heard about that town so far, but an important nonetheless if I ever move there.

This was a steal at the price we're paying. We got a whole house that's in good shape for just a little more than most of the run down apartment places we were looking at.

We added another roommate for a total of 4 people in here because we didn't want to pass it up.

I've seen some other nice places too, but I've seen a lot more shady looking places.

We're the first student residents in this place, it used to be a residential house that families lived in before our property management company bought the house.

Oh, and if anyone is wondering what happened to the NES and N64, they're in a box in that table at the middle of the room, ready to be used if need be :)

Non-dorm housing tends to be either shoddy or expensive, sometimes even both. For a nice 2 bedroom place you can expect to pay $1000+ in downtown madison. The true fratboy type housing is usually a 2-3 story place with a couple 3-4 bedroom places and one smaller one. The 4 bedroom ones tend to be $1500+ if memory serves me right. However, they are slowly tearing down most of these ghetto housing properties in some sections to put up big 1/2 bedroom complexes that cost the same ridiculous amount.

Madison is fairly inflated pricewise. I would guess it's the same price as milwaukee, which is significantly larger.

Actually, housing in Madison is much more expensive than in Milwaukee in my experience. My older sister rents in Milwaukee (and right near the lake, which is an expensive place for apartments), and easily pays $100/month less than what Yoyo and I would have had to pay for a much smaller apartment in Madison.

I'm about to drive the 90 minutes form sloshkosh to Madison (with a still un-healed broken ankle) dropping off a packet of papers, and driving back this afternoon.

Is Rosendale still a speedtrap?

The one above the mantel? It's actually perfect right there. I should have explained better that from the ceiling to the top of the outlet is 1" higher than it needs to be to fit a 16:9 image that's the width of the wall there. It was like it was meant to be :)

Yup, that's why I stay on 41 and get on 26/151 in Fon Du Lac. It actually saves ~20 minutes in the summer as the speeds on 151 average higher and the roads are better. I made the mistake of taking 26 through Rosendale during a blizard when there was 10-12" of fresh, un-ploughed snow on the road. It was hell. Did I mention I had the only set of tire tracks on the road?

It's nice not having my kitchen/bedroom/livingroom/diningroom/storage area all be the same 10'x12' room.
