I disagree with some of your assessments. There are still a lot I haven't seen, though.

Tom Cruise does some pretty decent movies. I just hate that they promote his movies more like "OMG TOM CRUISE" versus just giving you an idea what the movie was about. Jack Reacher is a good example. It was a decent movie, but from the commercials all I got was Tom Cruise drives a car and has some witty banter. I had no idea what the movie was actually about.

I haven't seen any of them.

Huh?, I guess you just don't like movies very much. As for OP's list it's mostly OK, as mentioned though "Cocktail" was garbage and "Eyes wide shut" started out to be a look at human sexuality and all it's unknown's but sadly tries, (and fails) to morph into a mystery-thriller. I won't judge Kubrick by this mistake, he is/was one of the greatest of all time, "Dr Strangelove" was in a category beyond genius IMPO.

Far and Away is a great movie IMO. Do yourself a favor and watch it. It's free on Amazon or Netflix. I just saw it pop up the other day. You have to put up with a meh Irish accent from some actors but it's really not that bad.

Trailers piss me off anyway. No point in seeing the movie half the time because A. You have seen all the best action bits. B. You have heard the funniest jokes. C. You know the good guy wins.

Should be some sort of system where I fill out a form with the types of films I like and they make suggestions.

I love watching movies without having a clue what they are about.

One of the best... Just ignore his personal life stuff, mainly religious affiliations.

Hmm.... 80% of your ratings I'd downgrade by one from my own personal point of view.

For instance:

Edge of Tomorrow - Great --> Good
Oblivion - Pretty Good --> Ok

etc.

Still pretty decent though.

They took it off.

Anyways, Jerry Maguire is one of his best movies.

Jack Reacher was silly dumb. Can't believe Werner Herzog had an acting role in that movie.

Ok, but ask yourself this... Are they good BECAUSE of Tom Cruise, or are they just good movies he gets the parts for (and somebody else could have done just as well if not better)?

I can't believe someone thought it would be a good idea considering the multiple books with Reacher not being a midget.

What do I know...
Cost $60
Made $218

I still hope they drown.

I think Jerry Maguire is vastly underrated. I think it's in the discussion for greatest movie ever. Nearly every millisecond of it is perfect. Tarantino-meets-Jimmy Stewart screenplay, crisp editing, perfect soundtrack, powerful acting, visionary yet grounded directing, bonus points for rom-com/buddy movie/sports/coming of age hybrid...it's really hard for me to point to any movie and say that it's clearly better than Jerry Maguire.

At the very least, I think it's as good as Shawshank. I know Shawshank was amazing, but it's a lot easier to be amazing in such a narrow field. Tell me that Tim Robbins is a greater actor than Tom Cruise. Tell me it's harder to make a great prison movie than to make a great sports agent movie. Tell me it's harder to direct a 99% male movie than one where the main characters' genders are split almost evenly.

Go ahead. I've got snacks. This should be good.
