Man I used to have these as kid. They were awesome with tomato sauce and mozzarella on a hoagie bun. I'd eat two.

BTW, for those that slice up actual steak for sandwhiches, what kind of cuts do you use? Would cheaper cuts, like chuck, be good? Or, would it be better to have a more fatty cut?

Cheap and good is tri-tip roast. Slice it thin when it's partially frozen.
 
yea they are expensive so i dont buy them.

I did the math, they're close but still much more convenient. There are 6 oz in the package, I paid $2 or $3 for the package (I'll assume the higher cost) if I wanted an 8 oz steak I'd need two packages 12 oz of these would definitely cook to 8 oz of steak so the total would be $6 which is similar to a cheap 8 oz steak but a good 8 oz steak near me is $8-12.
Again they are different foods with different expectations and cook times so its not really a fair comparison.

Yep. This is convenience food, heat up pan, put frozen slabs in, and then eat a few minutes later.
 
Really? wow the last time i saw them at the store they were 7.99 a box. this was several years ago and due to sticker shock never looked for them after that.

Just left the store. Two different sizes, the 14(?) oz pack was $8.29 the 6 oz pack was $4.29. Both had discount with store saver card. I'm guessing its $1.00 off with card. I didn't want to buy more to find out.

I will. I'm not saying it's bad. Its just like finding out someone made sushi with mashed potatoes, cabbage and wurst. Its taking a while for me to get my head round it.

I almost forgot, I remember boiled ham was important and she used the cheap pickles I think the better pickles made it crappy for some reason.
