Perhaps not the ergonomics, although that is subjective. I personally liked the ergonomics of the XT grip better because I have smaller hands.

However, the construction is what I was referring to. The slide out tray design of the XT is a lot more robust than the 30D's. I've used the XT grip a LOT, and the only time it has failed me was when it got dunked in seawater. The 30D's grip feels cheaper, one of the plastic latches holding the battery in place cracked off, the battery door is cracked at the hinges (XT door has no hinges), and overall it's a lot less weatherproof than the XT because it has malfunctioned on numerous occasions, far more than the XT grip.

ah, gotcha. I agree the battery door does leave a bit to be desired. I have not looked at that specifically on the XT. Usually when I read about the grip, it's in reference to ergonomics. Your needs on weather sealing are different than mine though, so I can't quite comment on that aspect

D300's LV is 15 fps, unfortunately. so even if someone hacked it, it'd probably be stuck at 15 fps.

And that is the wrong thing to do. Rinse everything out in distilled water before letting it dry.

He did all sorts of horrific things to his D3; drop test, water test, screen scratch test, etc. I'm not sure if someone hosted his videos elsewhere.
 
:x i can't believe you had to do it again. why didn't you just get an olympus? so i guess you know your limits of your camera now....and what NOT to do...right?
 
ok, you're DONE. you found the limits of your equipment, now go use it and try not to get remotely close to those limits again. the camera is NOT warranted as being waterproof or impactproof.
 
LOL so I guess you're happy with your D300 🙂

I half submerged my D2x in the creek last month and it's still running. If you're thinking about what to do for version 3 . . . 😉

Of course. It's not like he did a bullet-impact test (although he did drop the thing from about 10 feet onto concrete).

Actually 2nd stupidest... First was the lack of an updated AF on the 5DMkII.

It takes a certain kind of stupid to wash a camera to 'make sure' it can survive being drenched.

You're basically guaranteed to fry your expensive equipment. Wasting tons of $$ is retarded. Especially if you haven't even used it
