Sorry. I thought he was serious about it...you never know, there could be some noobs out there that think they are getting a great deal on a 3 year old piece of technology.
Dear god... that's coming from someone with 9 posts to his/her name?WWYBYWB?

well I'm glad you guys liked it. I actually went to Best Buy the other day just to look around and saw some guy in the video card section looking around like he was in wonderland. Then he started talking to one of the employees so I listened in on the convo a bit and it was hard to keep from laughing out loud at some of the things they were saying. it's always quite entertaining to listen and watch the average consumer make a technology purchase IMO.

Actually, a PCIe card can be carefully cut so that it fits into a PCI card slot, so your best bet is to return the PCI card and look for a PCIe card instead. Using a general purpose hacksaw with either a wood or a metal blade will get the job done. You simply notch the card in the location of the small divider in the PCI slot and your in business !! Use a sharpie to mark the location and make sure not to cut further than necessary.
Card cutting done incorrectly
Make sure you google the procedure, and don't try the AGP to PCIe cut, as that one technically is not going to work. Well duh !!! Its AGP to PCIe ... they aren't even in the same slot family !! PCIe to PCI, on the other hand, is as backwards compatible as stuffing a Ford 460 crate motor into an old Model T Ford !
 for a great discussion. This should be FUN !!! Please post your Crysis numbers once you are done with it .. we'd love to see what the new card will do.

Oh, cut it out, y'all... I may not have pointed it out specifically, but my remark was intended to be humorous, and did not (although should have spelled it out, perhaps) touch the join date either. So please take this sanctimony elsewhere.
I simply found it funny that someone who'd joined that same day is condescending towards "noobs", while totally missing the OP's sarcastic intent. You turn it into a tragedy... ?!!

well... this word says it all about what kind of flimsy person you are by describing my defence for brawleyman as 'sanctimoniousness'.

What's this, a tempest in a teapot? isn't it time to stop the thread hijacking? will someone call a waahmbulance, please?
Sadly enough, the 5200FX is still being sold at outrageous prices in many places - Staples being one of the worst offenders.

Almost five years ago (four years and nine months) it was launched at $149.99. Street prices were close to $110 on launch day. Like Wine, it gets better with age.
TopMicroUSA presents you the chance to own this great antique at a bargain!
lol u must have missed that the whole thing is a joke.Originally posted by: tcsenter
In all fairness, John did spare you from having to return the PCI Express card after discovering it doesn't fit anything in your PC, possibly even saved your computer from damage by you developing the notion to go cramming it in. He also knew there was a difference between PCI and PCI Express.
So John did pretty good, much better than an average Best Buy employee, until you left him little other choice but to make a recommendation between GeForce 6200 and 5200. Given both of those cards only amount to different degrees of complete inadequacy for playing modern games, it really wasn't a significant error. Its not as though his choice was between FX5200 and GF8500, but between Crap and 50% more Crap.
John did A-OK in my book. You, however, not so much.
