Dear god... that's coming from someone with 9 posts to his/her name?WWYBYWB?

no offence, but i need to express my thought on the number of post situation again, having more post doesnt make you any better than people with lesser or little post than you.

I joined this forum 2 yrs ago, and has less than 100 post, but i hang around 3-4 hr reading through the forum everyday. The reason that i dont reply much due to the fact that most people on this forum were already very helpful and efficient enough to reply to the OP with the right suggestions before me.

so please stop with the " you are not worthy of your opinion unless you got thousands of posts on your avatar"

kind regards,
mouthwash

Thank you very much mouthwash. You helped me prove my point on this. Just because I have a few posts doesn't mean that I know nothing or have no right to say anything. The fact that "Anita Peterson" acted like that shows that they have nothing better to do than to cruise through the forums and act like they know everything. Just because you have more horsepower in your car, doesn't mean you know how to use it correctly. Sorry "Anita Peterson", but I am just expressing my opinion as you did.

jOjO81: Sorry about thinking that story was true, I am quite the gullible guy. It is amazing how those guys in those stores know nothing about that stuff! Are they actually that stupid when it comes to computer stuff or are they actually "trained" that way? I know that a lot of the time when I go to Best Buy or Circuit City or especially Wal Mart, I always get people that come up and ask me about something on the shelf and I just tell them the way it is, but then they go to an "expert" that works there and listen to them and make their purchase. It is really sad that people are cheated like that.

not a problem, i have to voice this out often due to the fact that lots of ppl has this kind of 'naive' thoughts on the number of post situation.

we are all here in forum to learn and help, you should correct someone only if they make the wrong suggestions, not because they have different opinions.

peace

kind regards,
mouthwash

It's actually pretty scary. I think we were listening to the same conversation. I was at a Best Buy 2 weeks ago with my son, just looking through the video card section for the helluvit. Same thing, customer was asking if both video cards had a processor and which video card was faster, the 256MB one or the 512MB one. I don't remember the employees responses exactly but they were wrong enough to make me want to tackle the customer on the way to the register to pay for his "new" video card.

Actually, a PCIe card can be carefully cut so that it fits into a PCI card slot, so your best bet is to return the PCI card and look for a PCIe card instead. Using a general purpose hacksaw with either a wood or a metal blade will get the job done. You simply notch the card in the location of the small divider in the PCI slot and your in business !! Use a sharpie to mark the location and make sure not to cut further than necessary.

Card cutting done incorrectly

Make sure you google the procedure, and don't try the AGP to PCIe cut, as that one technically is not going to work. Well duh !!! Its AGP to PCIe ... they aren't even in the same slot family !! PCIe to PCI, on the other hand, is as backwards compatible as stuffing a Ford 460 crate motor into an old Model T Ford !

 for a great discussion. This should be FUN !!! Please post your Crysis numbers once you are done with it .. we'd love to see what the new card will do.

Oh, cut it out, y'all... I may not have pointed it out specifically, but my remark was intended to be humorous, and did not (although should have spelled it out, perhaps) touch the join date either. So please take this sanctimony elsewhere.

I simply found it funny that someone who'd joined that same day is condescending towards "noobs", while totally missing the OP's sarcastic intent. You turn it into a tragedy... ?!!

Anita Peterson: jOjO81 came back and clarified everything. If you were trying to be humorous, then I am sorry. I was just hoping for a little bit better "Welcome to Anandtech Forums! We are happy to have you here!" kind of response.

Anywho, I am glad to be here. I have looked up lots of info and also put in my 2 half-a-pennies on some things. To help and be helped is a wonderful thing when dealing with computers.

"please take this sanctimony elsewhere"

well... this word says it all about what kind of flimsy person you are by describing my defence for brawleyman as 'sanctimoniousness'.

i dont expect someone with 37xx post to have such witless sense of humor, sorry i did not get it, maybe its because of my low number of post.

and i guess you dont hang around much on other forums to see this kind of frequent post situation i was trying to point out.

i better stop before this 'tragedy' that i turned into gets worst :)

Thank you mouthwash! It isn't the number of posts you have, it is the actual knowledge that counts! Enough of this crap!

So, FX 5200 for $82, eh? Man, that card will play Word and Excel like crazy!

What's this, a tempest in a teapot? isn't it time to stop the thread hijacking? will someone call a waahmbulance, please?

Sadly enough, the 5200FX is still being sold at outrageous prices in many places - Staples being one of the worst offenders.

lol you being really funny now, i am thread hijacking? lets look back and see whats your 2nd post on this thread: "Dear god... that's coming from someone with 9 posts to his/her name?
WWYBYWB?" All i do was replying to what you wrote and expressed. brawleyman's attitude towards you was polite and he even said sorry (which is unnecessary), but with your 'humorous' attitude posting towards brawleyman is just unpleasant especially its his first day in this forum, maybe you should look back again and learnt something from cookie monster's post.

"What's this, a tempest in a teapot?"
looks like you just dont get it do you? so i am going to do what you think, well i have less post anyway :p let this be the last reply on this posting issue, i am not going to reply anymore, you can have it your way :)

"will someone call a waahmbulance, please?"
i can do that you for you my friend, but you gotta promise me you will get on alright?

and great OP post by the way.

kind regards,
mouthwash

http://www.topmicrousa.com/xfxgefx8x12d2.html is selling the FX 5200 for $200.

Almost five years ago (four years and nine months) it was launched at $149.99. Street prices were close to $110 on launch day. Like Wine, it gets better with age.

TopMicroUSA presents you the chance to own this great antique at a bargain!

In all fairness, John did spare you from having to return the PCI Express card after discovering it doesn't fit anything in your PC, possibly even saved your computer from damage by you developing the notion to go cramming it in. He also knew there was a difference between PCI and PCI Express.

So John did pretty good, much better than an average Best Buy employee, until you left him little other choice but to make a recommendation between GeForce 6200 and 5200. Given both of those cards only amount to different degrees of complete inadequacy for playing modern games, it really wasn't a significant error. Its not as though his choice was between FX5200 and GF8500, but between Crap and 50% more Crap.

John did A-OK in my book. You, however, not so much.

I got one of them when I was new to hardware, for around $100, to upgrade my stupid Dell so that I could play old games that require hardware T&L. Should have bought the PCIex1 x1300 instead.

the only thing that could of made this better is if you tried to "upgrade" your cpu to a Pentium 4 Prescott, 3.8 GHZ because it was much faster then your Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHZ processor.

A well done parody, but it's just not funny when you actually encounter these people. It elicits an emotion more akin to disgust mixed with hostility.
