Not right now but i loved the original NES and SNES and several others.
I wouldn't mind having the Wii and PS3 but not until i get a nice TV and home theater system!

I originally bought the PS3 as the cheapest BD player on the market at the time, and I knew I'd eventually get some games for it too. It's been great! There are times when I'm in the mood to game on the PC and times when I'm in the mood to game on the PS3. Couple that with certain PS3 exclusives (Ratchet & Clank, FF13, Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls, etc.), and I'm very pleased with my purchase.

The PS3 is my favorite way to showcase my HT system, whether it be with a BD or a game.

Edit: And it's nice to have friends over to play RB/GH too.

I've always enjoyed PC gaming more than console gaming. I don't own any but will be buying a Wii for the family one day. I don't hate consoles but I enjoy the customization that comes with PC gaming. I do own a PSP for titles that make it there, currently playing Dantes Inferno on there as frustrating as it is.

damn't i guess its true, most PC gamers here own a console...and i thought you all were serious people...

We are serious (about gaming), that's why we don't limit ourselves to a single platform.

Looking forward to playing Alan Wake on the 360 when I finish up Metro 2033 on the PC.

I think my wife has actually been using the 360 more than me lately though.. She had to get caught up with Lost on Netflix before the final season started and we use it to stream videos into the living via TVersity. Any gaming purchase I make that also makes the wife happy is a definite bonus.

When a game is available on both platforms... I will usually opt for the PC version for games that I know I will replay again or are more graphics intensive. Whereas I'll grab the 360 version if I plan on reselling it after playing or it's a multi-player game that all my console friends are getting for their 360 (I don't know anyone in with a PS3). I prefer the PC, especially because I can play with a mouse/keyboard or controller, but the console has it's place.

Don't have one right now, last one I had was a PS2 which I think I gave to my cousin. Never spent much time on it.

I'm considering getting a PS3/XBox when I move into my new apartment, but it would probably mostly be used for streaming media.

The whole "I'm a PC gamer and I'll never get one" garbage is really silly. If you're that loyal to something you'd rather miss possible future entertainment than so be it.

I could understand the economic stand point though, say if you had a budget gaming rig you also used for other things. Intially, it would cost more than a console, but you could get a lot more out of it.

I just hate those douche bags who are all high and mighty about how PC gaming is so much better. I just counter with "so, you're saying God of War 3 is better on the PC?" or "How's Assassin Creed 2 coming along then?". Same thing goes for people who are like with but pro console as well.
Your argument may apply to some, but I can easily say it's not where I stand. I simply don't enjoy the vast majority of console games. Of course that includes console games on PC, which is sadly the majority now a days. So I don't avoid consoles because of some useless loyalty, it's simply because I am missing next to nothing I would get any fun out of it.

I can say that with so many PC games being multi platform now however, that new games are hardly interesting anyway, so it's turning less into PC vs console to me, and more into consoles games on PC vs PC exclusives.

I bought a PS2 for Gran turismo 3/4, Tekken and FFX. sold it now since theres nothing I use it for. I'm gonna wait till Gran turismo 5 comes out so I can decide whether to get a 360 for Forza3, Tekken6 and FF13 or get the PS3 with GT5, Tekken6 and FF13

Some of you guys should ease up, gaming is gaming. PC or console. whats the difference really?

don't get me wrong I prefer PC gaming by a wide margin, but if you can spend $400 on a graphics card to play crysis on, why not spend the $300 to play Forza or Alan wake or God of war?

Have a Wii, PS3 and 360. But almost always game on my PC. Got the PS3 because it just made sense to me to spend a bit more when I needed a new blu-ray player to get a console and blu-ray in one.

360 and the Wii were just impulse buys, I'm a big gamer and have tons of games for the 360 and Wii, not too many for the PS3 ;)

I don't find gaming on a console anywhere near as satisfying as on my PC though. For the record, I mostly play FPS games with some mmos and rts thrown in.

I don't think we've turned the 360 on in months, same goes for the ps3 apart from to play blu rays. The Wii just recently started to see some action because mario galaxy 2 came out and those games are great.

I can certainly agree with that. Gaming is gaming. Which is why I do have my PSP, yeah its not as powerful as a PS3 but at least I get a taste of concsole gaming with GT, Tekken6(which I still have to buy), FF13:Agito(which I hope isn't canceled) and God of War. Alan Wake is still a sensitive subject(LOL), still not happy about canceling the PC release.

Yup, but none of the current nor even any from the previous generation (I did, but not anymore).

Today I own the following consoles:

Nintendo Entertainment System
Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Sega Genesis (original model)
TurboGrafx-16
Sony PlayStation (original model)
Nintendo 64
Sega Dreamcast

After the Sega Dreamcast I bought Microsoft's XBOX, then later I bought the Nintendo GameCube, but eventually I sold both the XBOX and the GameCube along with my original Dreamcast (and that Dreamcast was my third, since both previous ones ended up malfunctioning and over-heating after about three months). Then a few years later I bought a second-hand Dreamcast again, and that's the Dreamcast I own now. Also, with the exception of the TurboGrafx-16 all the consoles I own are second-hand ones bought from eBay, because I never kept my consoles back in the days, with the exception of the TGx-16 as mentioned since it was my cousin's, and he eventually simply gave it to me (that was only a few years ago, not when the thing had real value).

"No, and never going to."

I already have a computer. It's absurd to tell me "well, if you want to play this game, you have to buy a second computer... same thing, but we need money, tough shit. Btw, this other computer doesn't do any of the things it's capable of other than game. Would you like some lube with that?"

It's ecologically irresponsible as well.

Three so far, and might add a wii and DS/PSP someday.

- PS2 for JRPGs and misc. like Katamari Damacy and Ratchet & Clank
- PS3 for blu-ray and exclusives
- 360 for netflix and exclusives (PS3 does netflix too but you have to use a special blu-ray disc.)

To me a good game is a good game, regardless of what platform it's on. I'd rather not skip something I want to play just because it isn't on the "right" platform.

Do you own an alarm clock? Wrist watch? Stereo? TV? Cell phone? iPod? Camera? You could use your computer for all that stuff, but specialized devices can be cheaper as well as more effective specifically because they are designed for niche roles. Similarly, you will not be able to build a gaming PC system for the same price as a PS3 and have the games look just as good.

I'm assuming that ecological bit was supposed to be funny, but as an aside there are few serious gaming PCs with power consumption below that of a PS3 or 360, let alone the miniscule power draw of the Wii.

I can see this if you are strictly a RTS, FPS or Adventure genre fan and don't care for any other games. However, there are some really good console games out there if you are open to great games from other genres.

Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 2, Demon Souls, Red Dead Redemption, Heavy Rain, Assassin's Creed 2 and God of War 3 were all A+ games in my book and released fairly recently. Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are great fun on the Wii, and there are a couple of 360 exclusives (Alan Wake) that I would love a 360 for if I wasn't already overloaded on electronics.

I have a PS1 and a PS2. Ill probably get a PS3 eventually, whenever Gran Turismo 5 releases. There's a few PS3 exclusives I'm sort of interested in checking out besides GT5 also. Xbox 360 doesn't interest me since it doesn't have anything that isn't already done better in a PC game. And I refuse to pay $50 a year to play online.

I have all the current generation consoles and handhelds. If you are really into gaming, I don't see you could not.

I have a PS3, Xbox 360, PSP, and my wife has a Wii. I refer to the Wii as the "dust collector," since no one ever plays it. She wanted it for Christmas though and I tried to talk her out of it and told her she would be done with it in a few weeks, and sure enough, that is EXACTLY what happened.

I bought my first Xbox mainly because of sports games. It was a good thing I did that, as sports games have virtually disappeared on the PC. I got a PS3 because 1) I wanted a BR player 2) Exclusives: GoW Collection, GoW 3, and MLB 10:The Show.

Your bolded statement is absurd. Each of the manufacturers are independent companies, complete with their own development houses or exclusive contracts with companies to produce games for their consoles. Besides that, the PC also has exclusives that the consoles are locked out of as well.

It's not about the genre to me, it's about the direction they take most games that are made for the console audience. Compare Oblivion to Morrowind, Invisible War to Deus EX, Assassins Creed to Thief, or Bioshock to System Shock 2. Of course as I touched on in my previous posts, with consoles becoming so dominant in the market pretty much all games have taken this direction regardless of being on PC. IMO, the PC platform needs to define it's place in the market once again, since there is nothing offering an alternative to console games anymore.

I play GAMES, not HARDWARE. A game on a console-only doesn't mean anything to me. I'll play a good game on a console just as quickly as I'll play a good game on PC. The problem is, most people in this thread who are replying with negatives towards consoles, are defining "good" as something ONLY fits their very narrow views of what a game should be. And God save that game if it doesn't fit their bigoted views of what's "good" and what's "not good".

Disgusting.

IMO, the PC platform needs to define it's place in the market once again, since there is nothing offering an alternative to console games anymore.

It has re-defined it's place. It's an MMO/Casual game platform.

That is a pretty decent definition of the PC platform at the moment, but that just reinforces my point that it needs to redefine it self once again.
