This is weirdly mesmerizing. Getting hail now, they're small, but the wind is driving them so hard it's making so much noise, not only hitting the house but hitting trees outside can hear it from inside.

Ok going to bed for real now. :p

Getting where we kinda need rain. Lots of stuff is budding out early due to the warmth but we're several inches shy of rain so far this year. Thing is, we need gentle overnight rains that soak in, NOT heavy downpours in windblown storms that run off over the ground that's too dry for it to sink into.

60F and calm yesterday.

20F with 35MPH winds today (feels like 1F). Quite a cold front that moved in...damn arctic blasts.

Looks like Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio had some nasty tornado-spawning storms yesterday too. Rare in winter.

56F/13C here right now. If I could live year round with temps between 55 and 75, I'd be a happy man.

Very little snow this year. Only two decent snowfalls (12+ inches).

-19 with lots of blowing snow. Lots of drifts now. Have to start digging out soon so I can get to work, at least I'm on night shift so it's a bit less of a scramble. Not fun waking up to something like this and having to scramble to make it on time.

I just heard thunder... in the middle of a snow storm... when it's -19. This is the weirdest thing.

I should probably go to bed now.
Last time we had snow in San Antonio (February 2021) I saw thunder snow while taking a walk in it. Surprised the hell out of me.

We'll be 50F tomorrow but then right back up into the 80s Friday and beyond. Disgusting for late February / early March to be that high, but Texas just keeps getting worse and worse every year lately.

Spent about an hour digging out so I could get to work. I didn't even do whole driveway, just enough so I can walk around to dig out the truck then drive out. Quite a lot of snow now.

Finally got to put my electric snow blower through a real snow fall though, the snow was about same height as the snow blower opening. Will finish driveway tomorrow morning before I park. Hopefully the wind dies down by then.

it happens here on occasion. I have heard it many times and have seen lightning during snowstorms, too.

-19 feels like -31, storm has slowed down a bit at this end but it's hitting Quebec now.

Tons of power outages there, going to be a busy night. I already have 3 techs out with generators.

-23 feels like -31 right now. Wind has died down a little. Suppose to go up to +4 on Friday... what a crazy temp swing.

Linemen in Quebec are going to be busy for a while after this storm. Those numbers indicate individual power outages that have been declared. Each power outage can affect a number of customers. Some of them are affecting like 2k+ customers. Right now they have 219,410 customers without power in total. Some of which are us. Got a few dozen sites right now without power, some still on battery and some on generator.

I've actually seen worse, but this was definitely a bad one. Quebec seems to get hit the hardest, they don't do as much maintenance as they do here in Ontario. But their hydro is also way cheaper... so it's a trade off I guess.

D3 and chelated zinc will help considerably. Just don't overdo either. I take 5k units d3 but I always have my blood include a d3 assay. For zinc, I wouldn't go higher than twice the daily value.

If you plan to try the zinc, get ZMA fuel

We drove into Aberdeen yesterday to do a bit of shopping ahead of the predicted storm this weekend. On the way home, we hit two sections...maybe 3-4 miles each where the highway was covered with about an inch of wet, slushy hail...that was fun. Temps were in the low 30s, but above freezing. Then, got up this morning to about an inch of hail/sleet covering everything. Temps stayed slightly above freezing...but this afternoon, we had crazy snow flurries with huge flakes.(bigger than a quarter) Thankfully, it was warm enough noneof that stuck...but the weatherman is predicting another round of snow tonight.
I fckn hate winter.

Rain moved out, 68 and sunny, got an hour bike ride in and a 45min walk with the boss. Downtown is packed with peeps at the shops and bars/restaurants. Fixing to burn some steaks.

Yall need to be grateful you don't live in the Sierra Nevadas. I'm watching the news and seeing snowflakes (not that kind) as big as kittens. OK, not QUITE that big. Mountain top wind speeds up to 190 mph (not a typo)

It was supposed to be sunny here. It was not.
